Referral code question?

I know the code has to be entered and you have to click the green arrow to get the message at top of the screen to get referral bonus.
I only entered it when I purchased my SIM card (clicked green arrow and got message at top of screen), not when I activated, is this an issue or you only have to enter it once?

You have to enter it again when you activate the sim card.
