Tutorial: How to port your old phone number from other mobile provider to Fizz?

1. Telus to Fizz, just use account number (can see it from user portal of telus.com)
2. Freedom to Fizz (need use IMEI, iphone is setting->About-> IMEI, Android is Setting->About Phone)
3. Chatr (either use IMEI,which is very slow. Or call 611 from your Chatr phone, or call 1-800-485-9745 and ask support to give your account, and use ACCOUNT NUMBER, there is 000 in front and keep it);
4. Rogers (use account number)
Porting time varies but most will be done in a few hours. If it's more than 4 hours, it's not right.
Need porting step from Fongo to Fizz but can't find any reference so far.

Porting from Bell:
Use your phone's IMEI, porting is done in few minutes (I have done it twice with same results)
For your phone's IMEI dial *#06# on your phone
It seems that Fido as the worst record for the the time it takes to port in to Fizz, as reported by many users on this forum.

Hello Rose,
Thanks you for sharing. I will add some information, it may be helpful :
If you transfer a number from Petro Canada Mobile to Fizz you will need a Pin number provided by them.
If you transfer a number from Virgin Mobile there are two cases :
◾ if it is prepaid : use PIN or IMEI informations
◾if it is postpaid (monthly subscription) : use IMEI.
Cheers,

If porting a number from ROGERS Share Everything plan, beware. According to ROGERS:
There is nothing to worry about. If your number is currently the main line on the account, we simply need to switch that title over to your second line and make this second line become the main number. Once that is done, you can safely port out your number.

What about Fido I can't receive text either calls... but I can make calls and texts... do I get Fizz credits for it?0

Just ported my number from Petro-Can. Used only the IMEI of the phone. Took under three hours for the port to be completed. Did not need a PIN or account number from Petro-Can.0

I've ported from Speakout. I can confirm you need:
1) Account number: which is your phone number
2) IMEI: dial *#06# on your phone
3) PIN: if you don't know it you'll have to call speakout customer service and they can reset it for you.
Speakout sends you a text within about an hour that they have been requested to port. You don't need to respond, Fizz will text you the port is done shortly after that.
I tried to port without the PIN (because I forgot it) and it got rejected, so you do need it. Once I got the PIN from Speakout, I just resubmitted on Fizz and it was resolved in about an hour.0 -
Thank you for starting this helpful guide for porting to Fizz! Your experiences with Telus, Freedom, Chatr, and Rogers are valuable. I can add some information about Fongo to Fizz porting based on what I've learned:
For Fongo to Fizz:
- You'll need your Fongo account number (found in your Fongo account settings under "My Number")
- Your Fongo phone number
- The postal code associated with your Fongo account
The process can be tricky because Fongo is a VoIP service rather than a traditional carrier. Some users have reported that you may need to specify "Fongo Wireless" (not just "Fongo") as your current provider when initiating the port.
Important tips for anyone porting to Fizz:
- Make sure your number is eligible for porting before starting (check on Fizz's website)
- Don't cancel your old service before the port is complete
- Double-check all account information - even small errors can cause delays
- If porting takes longer than 4 hours (as you mentioned), contact Fizz support through their website chat
Has anyone else successfully ported from Fongo to Fizz who can share their experience? The VoIP-to-mobile transition seems to have some unique challenges.
