It's unclear to me if Fizz voice calls will continue working in the US. I thought they would work with the "SIM with the red lightning bolt" but Fizz has this message on their website (https://fizz.ca/en/faq/why-do-some-calls-and-texts-when-us-not-work) which implies that voice and texts no longer work from the US: Why do…

Hopefully Fizz has people looking at this!

Thank you very much for your offering this.

IMHO, you can't really compare prices on plans without looking at specifics. Do you want Canada-wide? NorthAmerica-wide? Do you care about U/L voice and text? Do you want data and if so how much? 100MB, 1GB, 5GB, 50GB, 50GB, ... I don't think you'll be able to rate prices without looking at specifics. I use Fizz because I…

I've had similar issues. Might be related to image size (I haven't fine much testing)

Until you get there and try it, I don't think you can guarantee that it will work but I've never noticed any problems (I've driven from Florida to Ottawa a few times with my phone and seemed to have coverage the whole way and most recently was in Plattsburgh, NY a few weeks ago and it was fine). As far as switching, you're…

As mentioned, they will only ship the SIM card within their "home area" so you need to register and have it shipped to an address in Quebec or Ottawa. Furthermore, there are reports that they will terminate your service if you continuously use it outside their "home area". I have to evidence if this is true or not.

Also experiencing this (in Ottawa) this morning. 4 calls in a row, all calls exactly 1:40 and the call is then dropped (3 beeps are about 10 servings before the call is dropped). Called the same person from land line and there's no problem that way. Status page says services are fully functional but obviously several of us…

Ca me ferait plaisir d'accepter s'il t''en reste. . J'essaie de t'envoyer mon numéro en privé. Merci, Michel

I'll gladly take anything you can spare if it's not all gone. Feel free to PM me. Thanks, Mike
-
Actually, it's working now but it didn't seem to work for the past 30 minutes at least.
-
Just to elaborate on the previous message, in Ottawa, I am not getting any phone or SMS. I do have data service. Showing strong signal.
-
Yes, if you buy a "Canada+USA" plan, you can call / text Canadian or US numbers from Canada or the US and you can use your data from Canada or from the US.

Not sure where / how to report to Fizz but verification with edwardjones.ca did not work (tried 5 times). Amazon did work.
-
Thanks for the info. Their SMS 2 factor thread says "... Most of the 2-factor authentications which are common have been deployed and ready to use ..."
-
Personally I think it's worth getting the Canada-wide coverage anyway as it's not much more but I've read that the whole Ottawa region is part of the Quebec region for the plan so technically, if you are only calling from and to Ottawa, you should only need the Quebec region.

I don't see it on Overview anywhere but it is on Manage (under the phone number)

As mentioned above, you may need to activate roaming depending on which network you are connecting to. It could also be that your phone isn't compatible with the band that's available in Niagara (Fizz operates / roams on different bands and not every band is available in all areas. As silly as it sounds, if you aren't…

-
That would have nothing to do with Fizz and if there is a difference, it would be because of the hardware in your phone. Personally, I suspect there's no difference.
-
I don't care about new functionality. I just want them to fix the 2 factor authentication SMS. My bank and RRSP account both recently changed their login and I have to get calls to log into my account because 2 factor authentication isn't working.
-
I also got the same message after I signed up (as well as a message saying "Can't port number after it was already ported and working")
-
I also received an SMS after several days (It was sent around 6am on Jan 24th and I only received it overnight last night).
-
FWIW, my phone is almost always "roaming" on the Fizz network. Once it a while, my phone displays '4G-LTE' but most of the time it displays '4G-Roaming'. I'm in Ottawa and work in Gatineau.

Thanks for the response but that's the problem; they list "Netherlands Antilles" - which Bonaire was part of until it was dissolved 8 years ago. "Netherlands Antilles" doesn't exist anymore. It's a bit like if they listed "Upper Canada" for Southern Ontario and "Lower Canada" for Southern / Eastern Quebec - 200 years ago…

In answer to my own question, according to Fizz's FAQ (https://fizz.ca/en/faq/im-travelling-outside-my-coverage-zone-what-are-my-roaming-options), it appears that roaming calls are not yet available: "You will not be able to make calls while roaming outside Canada and the US. Roaming calls will be available in 2019. In the…
