Does LTE use more battery than 3G?

Tomorrow, I will be on a trip without a charger for a long time. Therefore, I am trying to find out ways to preserve my battery. On the internet, it has been long debated whether 3G uses less power than LTE. What are you guys’ thoughts?

I've never perform any bench mark between LTE and 3G.
    .
However I have not notice any obvious difference between LTE and 2G regarding battery usage in standby (connected to mobile network but not use it - not making calls on 2G or browsing on LTE)

That would have nothing to do with Fizz and if there is a difference, it would be because of the hardware in your phone. Personally, I suspect there's no difference.

As an old iphone 5 user, yes what you heard is right. Force it to use 3G will save you battery. In these days phone has big capacity battery and phone can run easily for whole day. Back to old days, I need dim iphone 5 screen, as well face phone to 3G in order to let it run whole day.
