Hi everyone!

I’ve been with Fizz for a while, but this is my first post here. I’ve been poking around the modem settings and got curious about what everyone else is running.

I’m using the Hitron CODA-4680, and here are a few of my settings:

  • 2.4 GHz — 20 MHz, channel 6
  • 5 GHz — 80 MHz, channel 36
  • Band steering — Off
  • WPS — Off
  • Firewall — Typical
  • WAN ping — Deny

I chose these settings mainly for stability and security. I’m curious which tweaks have made a difference for other people.

Which modem are you using, the CODA-4680 or the CODA-5610Q? Do you use it as your router, or do you run your own router or mesh system? Have you changed anything like Wi-Fi channels, channel widths, band steering, DNS, DHCP, IPv6, firewall settings, or UPnP?

If you’re using the Fizz modem as your router and want to see what’s available, connect to your home network, open 192.168.0.1, and sign in with cusadmin and your modem’s admin password. You can look around without changing anything. If you do experiment, jot down your original settings so you can switch back.

    Hi, welcome to Fizz,

I’m not very familiar with the modem provided by Fizz. In my own setup with Shaw/Rogers equipment, I’ve disabled the 5GHz band and kept only the 2.4GHz band, as the 5GHz signal tends to weaken significantly when passing through drywall. Furthermore, some devices may experience a loss of connection when switching between the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. That said, if you live in an apartment, the 5GHz band is generally the better choice.
