When is Fizz going to consider adding Fibre internet in Vancouver and Burnaby, British Columbia?

    This service is currently available for many residential addresses in Quebec and the Clarence-Rockland (ON) region. Over time, it will expand to include additional postal codes.     Hi, They rarely advertise before services are available, so we can't really know.

    Fizz sells home cable Internet in Québec and, if I'm not mistaken, the nearby Clarence-Rockland rural community in Ontario. While the owner Vidéotron advertises its Internet as "powered by fibre", I only see coaxial cable Internet plans, which have much slower upload speeds than pure fibre.

    For example, a Gatineau address can have 1 Gbit/s downloads with Vidéotron, but only 50 Mbit/s uploads (5% of the upload speed) due to the coaxial cable connection. Cable is FTTN, or fibre to the node.

    If Vidéotron and Fizz want to offer cable Internet outside of the Vidéotron territory, it will need a third-party agreement with providers like Rogers, Shaw (which Rogers now owns) and Cogeco, who own the cable lines that connect to various ISPs. That's how TekSavvy, Oxio (owned by Cogeco), Freedom (owned by Vidéotron, so a nice option for Fizz fans) and other cable ISPs operate.

    While I'm happy with the current offerings, it would be nice to see Fizz further expand its home Internet outside of Québec and C-R. I hope you are able to sign up for it one day! 😀

    Fizz only has cable Internet in Québec.
