Fizz internet and Videotron Illico 3 TVs

Currently have Videotron Internet 30MB and Videotron Illico TV service, 3 TVs connected on 2 separate floors. Considering cancelling Videotron internet and switching to Fizz, same price for 400Mbps, but would keep my Videotron TV service.

The signal is already split for everything to work. Would I just have remove Videotron modem cable wire and connect it to the Fizz modem? Would the quality or strenght of the signal change to my other TVs? I don’t want to play with my installation as there have been issues in the past.

Once I activate the Fizz modem, does Fizz then just send the signal through the Videotron line? I would not cancel my Videotron Internet right away, until I can confirm Fizz is working properly.

Also, with the Wifi 6 Fizz modem, would it work better if I continue using my router, as it reaches the cameras I have on the third floor, or would Fizz Wifi 6 modem suffice?

Thank you.

Yes, Fizz uses the exact same Videotron coax network, so switching Internet from Videotron → Fizz does not affect your Illico TV signal or your coax splitters. You simply move the coax from the Videotron modem to the Fizz modem. Your TV signal strength will not change.

As for the router, you can check the signal with the Fizz router and if it is not as good you can put the modem in bridge mode and use your own router like before.

Thx for your response BeakBird. So if for whatever reason I am not satisfied with Fizz Internet, can I then just reconnect my Videotron modem back and continue with Videotron as if nothing changed (will not cancel Videotron internet right away).

Also, any way of leaving my Videotron modem connected and trying Fizz at the same time, or would adding another spliter to both modems have an impact on the internet speed?

Yes. You can just reconnect and continue with Videotron.

You can have both connected at the same time but every time you split a coaxial cable, the physical signal is divided, resulting in signal loss (attenuation) so the speed may be impacted.

If you haven't already done so, you may want to check if you can maintain your TV service with Videotron without also having them as your Internet provider, or if your rate would go up significantly. Fortunately, Fizz also offers TV service at very reasonable rates, so this may be a better option.

Verified, can maintain TV service alone, and no price difference (all Illico receivers are mine).

There are premium channels that Videotron offers (paying extra $10 per month), and not Fizz, so keeping Videotron TV for now.
