Not able to activate SMS

Since I migrated to Fizz from Bell.
I never realized that I used Data to send txt (most likely I sent via Imessage)
-how do I activate SMS to get free txt ?
Iphone 14
I got the msg from support , it didn't say how to activate SMS ?
<make sure your iOS is updated to the latest version and that iMessage is turned off.
How do I turn it off?

    Hello magicalex,
     If you want to stop using your data for texts and use the free SMS included in your plan instead, here is exactly how to do it on your iPhone 14:
    1. How to turn off iMessage:
    Go to Settings.
    Scroll down and tap on Apps (or just scroll down to Messages on older iOS versions).
    Tap on Messages.
    Toggle the switch for iMessage to OFF (it should turn grey).
    2. Ensure 'Send as SMS' is active:
    While you are in that same Messages menu, make sure 'Send as SMS' is toggled ON. This ensures that if you are messaging another iPhone and your data is weak, the phone will automatically switch to a free green-bubble text instead.
