Does 5G automatically consume 4G on non-compatible devices?

I see that the maximum 4G data I can get is 33GB. It's not enough for my use. However, my device is only compatible with 4G. In this case, can I select 50GB of 5G data instead? Does Fizz automatically provide 4G when 5G is not available? I hope selecting 50GB of 5G data will give me 50GB of 4G data on my 4G phone. Thanks

    When it comes to data, 4G-only phone will also work on the Fizz network on a 5G plan. You will always fall back on 4G if no 5G signal is available. It doesn't matter if there is no 5G signal available at your location or your phone doesn't pick up 5G. This also applies to the partner networks.

    You should be aware of two things though.
    1. Make sure the phone supports all Fizz 4G bands, older models and/or phones imported from outside North America often don't.

    Your phone will automatically use 4g when registering on network, unless you disable it in network settings.

    From my understanding,
    It's just like a switch from the Fizz side, that when you order 5G, Fizz deblock that bandwidth for you, whether your phone support or not.
    If you phone doesn't support it, it will use 4G instead (Of course you can configure this inside your phone, models varies...)

    My area is only 4g but I have a 5g plan to get more data.

    There is a technicality you should be are of.
    5G and 4G are not interchangeable technologies. If your phone is limited to 4G, it will not work if the only signal available is 5G.
    Typically a telco broadcasts both in the same area at the same time, so if you pay for a 5G plan, chances are that there is also a 4G network available that your phone will use.
    The other consideration, that I am unsure about is roaming on partner networks.
    Let’s say you happen to be in a Fizz 5G area only but there is a 4G signal available from a partner. Will the 4G only phone switch to a 4G partner network?
    There are some very tech knowledgeable people here that may know the answer.
    My best guess is that 4G will be widely available until a 5G network has replaced it entirely as the current case with 3G networks.
