Incoming call display: incoming number at top, and URL at the bottom of the screen

Hello. I have been receiving calls without issues, but there is a URL in my display at the bottom of the incoming call, the URL is actually quite long and appears on all calls, even with known numbers in my phone contacts. Clicking on it does nothing.

I have taken a picture and it looks like this: ''=?utf-8?B?Tm91dmVhdSBtZXnZ==?utf .... '' and it goes on and on and scrolls into 2 lines.

Any ideas what may be causing this issue?

Thank you for your help.

    Hello Billy01,

Thank you for the detailed description — that definitely helps.

From what you’re describing (the long string starting with “=?utf-8?B?...”), this appears to be an encoded caller name being displayed incorrectly on your device. It is not a clickable link and does not indicate a security issue. It is typically related to how caller ID information is being transmitted and interpreted by the phone.

Since you’re using a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra with the original Samsung phone dialer and no third-party apps, the issue is most likely linked to how the caller name information is formatted at the network level or how the device software is decoding it.

We would like to gather a bit more information to better investigate:

    • Does this happen on every single incoming call, or only some?
    • Have you recently transferred your SIM card from another device?
    • Is your phone fully updated (Settings → Software update)?

    If possible, we also recommend:

    1. Restarting the device.
    2. Resetting network settings (Settings → General Management → Reset → Reset network settings).
    3. Testing the SIM card in another phone to see if the same display appears.

If the issue continues, please reach out to our support team directly via chat so we can further analyze your line settings. We’ll be happy to assist you step by step.

Are you using your phones stock dialer app?

Do you use apps like "Truecaller" or call blockers?
That could perhaps be the source of the problem.

It seems your phone character encoding not set correctly. What kind of phone you're using?
    Android:
    Open the default Messages app.
Go to Settings (often found in the top-right menu).
Look for Advanced or SMS settings.
Select Character encoding or Input mode.
    Options usually include:
GSM Alphabet: Forces 7-bit, best for max characters in English.
Unicode: Ensures all characters render correctly but cuts message length.
Automatic: Recommended setting for most users.

    iPhone (iOS)
iOS does not provide direct, fine-grained control over character encoding in the same way as some Android versions. It automatically switches to Unicode if a special character (e.g., an emoji) is detected.
To conserve characters, avoid using special characters or emojis.
You can enable "Character Count" in Settings > Messages > Character Count to monitor if your message switches to Unicode.

Using Samsung S24 Ultra, original phone dialer, no apps.

Check your Settings if it select the right character encoding mode.
