Bell media bad quality image

Since a few days, I noticed continuous pixelation while watching Fizz TV, I decided to investigate and found the source of the issue. What I have done:

  • Reboot the modem: this did not fix the issue
  • Tried to listen to Fizz TV from several sources, NVidia Shield, Cell phone, on the home internet or the cell phone plan (which is not Fizz or Videotron), the pixelation is still occurring
  • The internet speed and latency are excellent

I then realize that we did not experienced any issues while looking at the Hockey Game Saturday night on TVA Sport. I started noticing which channel I have an issue with

  • Starz1, Starz2, Cine Pop, Canal D

Turns out these are all Bell Media distributed. I then started looking at a random movie on Prise2, which is not Bell Media. No issue, no pixelation.

Can someone explain why there is signal issue only for channel owned by the competitor?

Hi, do you see the problem on other channels like SRC/CBC, Corus channels, Global or Rogers ?

I don't believe these problems are related to the fact that these are Bell-owned channels; it's more of a coincidence. You should report the situation to technical support after trying the following steps: log out and log back into your Fizz TV account, clear the cache and data, restart your TV streaming devices, restart your modem and router, and finally, try connecting a device via Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi, if possible, to see if that resolves the issue. I use a Google Streamer via Ethernet and I have zero pixelation on any channel.

No, I don't really listen to them, but I might do just for the sake of seeing if the problem is between Quebecor and Bell or Quebecor and the rest of the world.

I'm also having the same problem.
    With or without Ethernet connection.
I Google TV Streamer, Roku and Fire tv and it is happening everywhere
I contacted fizz support and they created a ticket.
It is sad that we're having this problems in 2025, the fizz tv for Roku is terrible.
I hope they can fix this problem quickly, I'm not able to watch Sunday NFL games. Sad that questionable IPTV works flawlessly than paid Fizz TV service.

If you read my initial post (modem rebooted, used my phone vs used my shield and used wifi vs 5G on cell phone plan), I already did all of that. In addition, I am wired from modem to Shield all in Gigabit. I have no issue for any other app such as Netflix, Amazon Prime.

I just tuned in the Grey Cup, on RDS, and still, random pixelation. Same for CTV. Then, I tuned in Radio Quebec for a little of Curieux Begin, nothing.

The only thing I did not do, log out, and delete all cache and app data. I just those and still getting that same random pixelation. Looks like when you have a weak digital signal when using HD antenna.

I am just stating the fact and most importantly wondering if others are experiencing the same. But lets say this is weird that I never had similar issue and random pixelation with Fizz. For a bit less than a week, I do and the channels for which I have the problem are all Bell Media. I am wondering if the hardware they use to get the signals from Bell media is having some issues. I sure hope its not some sort of childish game between the 2 of them.

Since when did that start happening for you?

I get the impression they want to save money and the quality suffers as a result.

Watching the Grey Cup now on Firestick and time to time having pixelation on both RDS or CTV.

Still there and worst with Movies than anything else. Raising an issue, will see what they have to say.

That's unfortunate. Was wondering if this would be worth it if I want to enjoy live sports (primarily Raptors and Leafs). Seems like media corps make it more difficult each year to enjoy live coverage.

Short answer: Fizz isn’t degrading Bell channels on purpose.
What you’re seeing is almost certainly a feed or encoding issue upstream, before it even reaches Fizz.

Fizz does not produce TV channels itself. For most channels, it receives:

A central broadcast feed (often IP-based)

Supplied by the channel owner or an authorized distributor

Then redistributed to customers via Fizz/Videotron’s TV platform

So if a channel feed is problematic at the source, everyone downstream sees the issue — regardless of how good your internet is.

    This is not sabotage

    This is not your setup

This is not Fizz throttling competitors

This is almost certainly a Bell Media feed/encoding problem

    Hi everyone..
I don't think that the entirely fault lays on Bell media.
Here's what I think it is happening.
VMedia is the app developer for Fizz tv, freedom mobile tv, VMedia tv and River tv, so they use the same server to deploy the channel's signal and I think that the VMedia server is too weak to handle too many users and that is why at times the VMEDIA server or servers and working extra hard.
I also noticed that when they update the app lets say for Apple TV the app for Android tv users breaks this is just an example.
I would like to see fizz having their own tv app and their own server.
