data while Travelling to Madeira for 7 days

I will be trecking in Madeira (Portugal) and will need to pay for parking on the mountains where there is no free wifi available. I noticed that I have an available benefit in my account that will reduce the travel add on by $5. Is that all I have to add to be able to have data (internet) while in Madeira? Do I have to activate something on my iPhone once I'm over there? I don't really need to make phone calls - it's just for getting internet when free wifi is not available. I want to make sure that I don't get a big roaming charge when I use my phone!

    If you are traveling to Portugal, we have available Travel Add- Ons for data, minutes and texts there.
    They can be bought from your account, My plans, Manage, Travel Add-Ons.

    Verifying your account, I notice that you have received a Perk of 1 Gb from Fizz that is available in Portugal too. Once activated, you have 7 days to use this perk.
    To activate it, please access My benefizz, My rewards, My perks. Also, you have $5 off
    any travel data Add‑on in case you need to add more roaming data.
    To be able to use data in Portugal, please make sure that your roaming data is activated on your phone.

    If you don't have money in your account wallet you can't be charged without purchasing an addon or plan.
    Also make sure to turn on roaming on phone so the service will work abroad.

    I would purchase the travel add-on for 1Gb it's $6

    You need to activate the perk reducing the travel add on by $5 first. Then buy the travel add-on and make sure it applied the $5 discount before confirming the purchase.

    Yes — as long as Portugal is included in the Travel Add-On you select.

    Fizz’s Travel Add-On (Europe) includes Portugal, so:
    • You’ll get mobile data (internet)
    • No pay-per-use roaming charges as long as you don’t exceed the add-on

    Your $5 perk will simply reduce the price of the add-on. That’s perfect — nothing else is required on the billing side.

    2️⃣ How to avoid surprise roaming charges (VERY important)

    To make sure you never get charged extra, do this:

    ✅ Before you leave (recommended)
    1. Log into your Fizz account
    2. Make sure Pay-Per-Use roaming is OFF
    • This ensures nothing works unless you have an add-on
    3. Purchase the Europe Travel Add-On (with your $5 discount)

    This way:

    3️⃣ What to do on your iPhone once you’re in Madeira

    When you land:

    📱 iPhone settings

    Go to:
    Settings → Cellular → Cellular Data Options
    • ✅ Turn Data Roaming ON
    • ❌ Keep Voice Roaming OFF (since you don’t need calls)

    That’s it.

    Your phone will automatically connect to a local Portuguese network and use your Fizz travel data.

    4️⃣ Parking apps & mountain areas

    Good news:
    • Parking apps use very little data
    • Even in the mountains, you’ll usually have LTE/4G coverage
    • Fizz roams on major Portuguese networks, which are solid in Madeira

    • Save offline maps in Google Maps or Apple Maps (extra safety)

    Wow, another great example of AI misinformation. At least fact check when you are posting AI-generated answers.

    • There is no such setting to turn pay-per-use roaming off. The only option is to have Fizz pay out your wallet credit before you leave.
    • There is no such thing as a travel add-on "Europe". At least not officially. Fizz stopped having roaming "zones" almost a year ago.
    • There also is no setting to disable "voice roaming". Only option is not to accept or make any calls while abroad and making sure all conditional call forwarding is disabled. That includes conditional call forwarding to your voicemail.

    Yes, you can use the perk to save you $5 for the travel data add-on. If you don't make phone calls, you won't be charged roaming fees.
