My apartment caught on fire - including the modem

Hi community,

I am trying to reach someone from Fizz but I can't understand how.

Saturday October 4th my apartment in Montreal caught on fire, it's a total loss. I am relocated now and will have a new apartment only in January.

The situation is that Fizz is telling me I have to return their modem or they will charge me around 225$. But as you guessed, the modem caught on fire as well and there's nothing left of it.

Who can I talk to? How should I move forward with this so Fizz doesn't charge me?

Thank you so much for your help!

Best,

    Hi,

Sorry to hear about the fire.

You will have to pay for the modem.

Fizz is not responsible for the fire and will charge you for the modem.

You will have to get reimbursed for the cost by your insurance company.

Hi! Sorry about your situation. The insurance company should cover the modem.

You must claim the amount invoiced by Fizz from your insurance company

    Hello @Véro ,

Sorry to hear about the issue!

At this point I can only advise you that the system will automatically charge you if you don't return the modem , or return the modem and it`s damaged, as stated here also : https://fizz.ca/en/faq/how-do-i-return-my-wi-fi-modem

What I can ask you though is to check with your insurance company as these charges should be deducted by them - once the situation is cleared out on your side.
So yes, Fizz will charge you , but your insurance company should cover that feed.

Thank you for your understanding on this matter.
