Hi - newbie from Alberta but might not be here long

Hi
I thought Fizz would be great but now, not sure. I created an account on September 1, 2025 for Canada/USA plan with 50% off for first six months, even found an online reviewer who gave code to use on future bill. Ordered a physical SIM card by mail and was planing to activate today September 15, 2025 so my billing date would be mid month. Login to do activation, no plan no deal, nothing in my account after waiting 30 mins for online chat, CSR rep was telling me to transfer service... online it said wait till you activate SIM then we will port your number and contact your provider of the switch and to close your account. when said you of no help to me, the CSR attitude changed, a bit rude reply, well if I am of no help to you......

Needless to say, I sent details to support via online from and will see in 48 hours if I am part of Fizz or not. The deal and plan is better then just Canada wide form Koodo for $ 1 more a month before tax/fees get 20 gb more data and USA calling.

Will see if Fizz (Videotron) wishes to have me as a customer or not.

Have a great day to anyone reading this message.

I don't know how you sign up for a plan but not activate it.
You can create an account without signing up for a plan.
I would think the billing date would be as soon as you pay for a plan.

If you ordered SIM card on Sep 1 and only now trying to activate it, yes, your account would indeed initially be empty. Unfortunately, Fizz' user experience on the website is often not very intuitive. Why they are making you go through the plan selection process when all you do is ordering a sim card is anybody's guess, but rest assured, you haven't activated a plan yet.

If you want to do so now, on the sim card that you have received, go to the account overview page, https://zone.fizz.ca/dce/customer-ui-prod/account/overview, and there should be a tile somewhere, Add a mobile plan. Follow the instructions, it will eventually take you through the plan selection process again. Only, this time, it counts. During this process you can also choose to transfer your number from your previous mobile carrier.

Unfortunately, you can only choose from plans being offered today, and the 50% discount ended a week ago.

For that, all you can do is contact support, https://zone.fizz.ca/dce/customer-ui-prod/account/contact-us, explain the situation and Fizz' misleading ordering process and hope for their leniency. Helps of course, if you'd refrain from telling them that their not helpful

You can order a sim card but not order a plan?

I encourage everyone that can, try esims.
    They are very easy.

Yes. You are not ordering a plan when ordering a sim card. Even though the Fizz system makes it look like you do. The plan is ordered only when you activate the sim. Which is the reason for the confusion. And disappointment when like here a promotion ends after a sim card is ordered but before the user can activate it. Fizz should really do something about this, because it is causing customer dissatisfaction before their service even starts.

That depends on how you want to use the service. If you want to use different phones, they are not easy at all.

You need to read the instruction carefully before you switch to Fizz.
