Cannot send SMS from Asia (Vietnam)

Hi,

I realize I'm able to receive SMS while being in Vietnam, but I'm unable to answer them. I have an unlimited Canada calls plan. Is there an add-on I can buy to send SMS? I don't want to call, I really just need to send and receive SMS.

    If your plan is from Quebec or Ontario you can put money in the Fizz’s wallet, otherwise, you need to buy a travel addon for texts for Vietnam.
    And yes only the incoming SMS are free

    “As of now, only Travel Add-ons for data are available, except for Canada and the United States where Add-ons for calls and texts are also available.”

    You can send SMS to Canada using your data through an app like TextMe, or other.

    Fizz has scrapped travel addons for texts earlier this year for countries other than the US and Canada. The only option you have is the wallet as other members had suggested. You should have received an email when your phone first started roaming in Vietnam telling you how much Fizz charges for outgoing text messages. Incoming are free as you have already observed.

    Interestingly enough, when you check for Vietnam travel add-ons, Fizz offers addons for call airtime, 10 or 30 minutes. Even though their official communcation is that you can't make or receive any calls on countries other than US and Canada. Not sure, if they are cooking up something new or if it is just a mistake on the website.
