Hi, thank you, I still use an old phone Samsung S4, I do not not like the new ones. The battery is the main reason. 3G still working, very happy. It still works but for how long? Don't forget that 911 will not work when 3G ends on a non-VOLTE compatible phone from Fizz.

3G is being shut down, so your phone will no longer work with Fizz. I would recommend switching to a new device.

3G is not an option in the medium and long term.
It's only a matter of time before it is totally shut down.0 -
I hope Fizz will enable more devices into its VoLTE list.
Freedom has more devices that has VoLTE compatibility, I don’t know why fizz doesn’t approve though it’s using freedom network in GTA.0 -
Sometimes in some areas 3G is still available.

Yes , 3G will take this year end to complete shutdown or maybe next year.

Thank you, no it was not activated and it was from a known caller, only reason I know was because that caller called a mutual friend who I'm near, so I had that friend also try to call but it didn't go through as well

"Why do the older technologies such as 2G and 3G need to sunset? The reason for this is that the amount of available spectrum is limited. The same spectrum that has been used for 2G and 3G can now be re-used for 4G LTE to deliver more data at higher speeds."

Still unable to receive calls, when I go on the chat for support they are able to tell me at least 3 numbers have tried to call me. This has been since yesterday that I can receive calls. Please advise. I have made a couple of posts about this and nothing has helped.

It’s official, it’s starting.
For months, we’ve been preparing for this important transition. We’ve sent emails, texts, and answered your questions to help you get ready for the 3G network shutdown. Today, this transition is no longer just preparation: it’s underway.
What’s the current status?
The 3G network withdrawal began on July 31. If you’re using a phone or SIM card that isn’t VoLTE-compatible, you may already be experiencing the first impacts: calls that don’t go through, reduced service quality, or occasional interruptions.
These disruptions will intensify over the coming weeks. The shutdown is happening region by region, which is why some of you are more affected than others depending on your location. To ensure your device always selects the best available network based on your location and provides the optimal experience, make sure to set your device to automatic mode.
For customers outside Quebec, we don't foresee any significant impacts at this time.
Check your VoLTE compatibility now:
1. VoLTE-compatible SIM card
Make sure you have the right SIM card (or an eSIM). A VoLTE SIM card is identified by a small red lightning bolt printed on it.
❌ If your SIM card doesn’t have this indicator, it isn’t VoLTE-compatible. Contact us right away to get a new SIM card for free.
2. #TEST (#8378)
Call #TEST (#8378) from your phone, in the places where you usually make calls, and listen to the voice message.
✔️ If you get confirmation that your call was made over the LTE network, you’re good to go.
❌ If you hear a different message or the call fails, your call couldn’t use VoLTE.
3. Check if VoLTE is enabled on your phone.
First, make sure your phone’s software is up to date. Then, activate the VoLTE feature. See how.
4. Need a compatible phone?
Check out our wide range of new and refurbished phones. All our devices are VoLTE-compatible, and several offers are available to make your transition easier.
What happens if you don’t take action?
Once the 3G network is completely removed, you won’t be able to make or receive calls, including to 9-1-1, unless both your SIM and phone are VoLTE-compatible.
There’s no time to waste!
Service interruptions will only increase in the coming weeks so it’s essential to act quickly.
Our support team is here to help you through this transition. Don’t hesitate to contact us if you have questions or need assistance.
The Fizz TeamWow thanks for the update!

But I will continue to use my old phone to the bitter end.

For me, the FIZZ #TEST (#8378) didn’t work, so I looked up some online resources to confirm whether my Note9 is VoLTE compatible. I learned that if mobile data stays on LTE or 4G instead of dropping to 3G during a call, it means the phone supports VoLTE. Oh wow—looks like I don’t need to change my phone after all! 🎉

I'm in the same situation as you are. It is annoying. I checked and my phone is VoLTE compatible but it is greyed out on my settings which I find odd... Still trying to figure this out0 -
