RCS no longer supported by carrier

i have been with fizz for about 4 years
RCS has always worked
im not a new client and my phone has NOT changed recently
as of yesterday i no longer have RCS
this has happened in the past but rebooting can sometimes help
when that does not, clearing data for the messaging app usually does the trick
but not this time
it has always worked in all my phones but something has changed
it specifically says NO LONGER SUPPORTED BY YOUR CARRIER
i have tried in all my current and old phones
all of them try to "verify" then fail and say NOT SUPPORTED
OnePlus12 OnePlus13 Pixel6 Pixel7pro Pixel8pro SamsungS21
tried in every one of them and keep getting the same issue
i find it strange that in the last week several people have reported the same thing and they just get disregarded and have their question CLOSED.
this needs to be addressed

Hi @Patrick C. #14966
Yes I saw sever post on this subject @Whizz probably you can look on it0 -
I can throw in
- Google Pixel 9
- TCL 60 XE Nxtpaper 5G
as phones it is not working on.
Have been getting different failure messages through. Not supported, Not supported in your area, etc. Not even the error message seems consistent.
1 -
are you saying its also not working for you, including in your pixel 9
0 -
Yes, that is correct. Not currently working on Pixel 9.

why are they ignoring this
and not acknowledging a problem
with all the people reporting itthey keep closing discussions
i have wasted tons of time on this now
verifying in multiple phonesjust like you i have seen different error messages
but i keep seeing "NO LONGER SUPPORTED BY CARRIER"
its either broken or they have dropped support without telling useither way they need to address this

I'm getting tired of the recurring issues at fizz
they always deny any issues
wasted hours and days of my time
in the end its always something thereissues with service
issues with billing
non-existant communicationand then they act surprised that you are upset about issued they are aware of but refuse to communicate to the clients

@elena code xzi4t
I have contacted support
they claim they do not know what RCS is and that i need to explain it to them1 -
Hello Patrick C. #14966,
We are sorry to hear about the situation encountered with the RCS services.
After verifying our tools we noticed that your plan is ready for this function.
Since the issue just recently started, please verify that you are having the latest version of the phone and also Google Messages application.
You can also access the phone settings and erase the storage of the RCS.
After this process, you can restart the phone and reinsert the SIM card to see if it will work.
In case the issues will persist, we kindly suggest you to reach directly Google messages support as this is a feature provided from their side.
We are still supporting this feature, no recent change was made from our side.
More details regarding the subject are visible here: https://fizz.ca/en/faq/whats-rcs-messaging-android-phones
Our customer service agents are available in case you are having other questions therefore you can reach them asking for assistance by opening this link: https://fizz.ca/en/support

Please read my comments
i have already done all of that
(reboot, clear data)including trying in 5 phones (Oneplus12 Oneplus13 Pixel6 Picel7pro Pixel8pro)
that have always worked and are supported
all devices up to dateplus others are reporting the same
in other threads and in this onei had to create a new one as fizz keeps closing them without resolution
Initially it says "No Longer Supported by Carrier"
then after data clear and reset
it says "Not Supported"
this includes in my Pixel7pro and 8pro
plus in this very thread someone with a pixel9in addition
i also mentioned that i did contact support
they say they dont know what RCS is
.... i mean.... seriously
comon fizz
wow.... just wowthere is an issue at your end
please fix it0 -

Interestingly enough, the RCS service does register successfully on an ancient Sony XZ2 compact phone, released in 2018 and running Android 10. So, I know that my specific Fizz SIM card and service plan are not blame. And that phone is nowhere near any Fizz compatibility lists nor was it even purchased in North America.

All of this has been done on the phones that are not working, nothing made any difference.

Sometimes I wonder if us customers have a service agreement for wireless services with Google or with Fizz?! Needless to say, it is not a general Google issue, SIM cards from other carriers work just fine on the same phones and WiFi connections. This problem is only with the Fizz SIM.

OMG
now support is saying its a google issue and to contact them
this is not a google issue
its a carrier issueplease help
support is just brushing the issue aside1 -
This is Google message issue.
Many Google Messages user says that RCS has been deactivated for them. It appears that the issue primarily affects those who recently changed carriers or switched to a new device. However, at its core, the problem seems to relate to a new Google Messages update.

The problem occurs during a change of operator or device. See Google's support to clear the cache, etc.

it workssee if clearing cache for carrier services, google play services, google play store in addition to Message app does anything.

thanks for the suggestion
i just tried this on my Pixel8prostill no-go
but pop in my telus work sim in it and it verifies and activates instantly

ya then can't really do much. it does seem like the newer activation/new requests for verification are not working as I had a referral who activated 2 month ago have working RCS and a referral who activated last week no longer showing RCS chat when I message them.

support just ended our conversation refusing to look into the issue
they said they have nothing to do with RCS and it has nothing to do with the carrier and to contact googleI asked when they would have RCS on iphone
they said they were working on itbuddy got caught in his own lie
i asked how it was they "fizz" were working on adding support for iphone
but have nothing to do with it when its android
for the very same "service"
i asked if they would send an iphone user to google for a service that is not workingthen he ended the conversation
i have started a new one
i am starting a new support request

Throwing my lot in
Pixel 7 Pro: rcs worked fine for years
Only broke 2 weeks ago when I wiped messages cache+storage to try to fix a crash I was encountering
Have not been able to connect to RCS since
I tried clearing messages + carrier services cache+storeage
I even tried using googles deactivate rcs link but my phone can't receive their verification code for some reasonSame behavior if I move my som into my old Oneplus 7T.
Was really hoping July 2025 update would help. But nope.
Going to leave RCS off and try again Saturday (some. Users said leaving it a few days helps).
If that doesn't work, I guess I'll try reverting android versions?Playstore says the app updated June 24th... Lines up with the start of my problem. I left a 1 star review detailing the problem. Fizz VS Google, let's goo
