Is it normal for the modem's name and connection to just disappear?

A while ago the TV got disconnected on it's own and then I checked my laptop and it wouldn't connect to the internet either. My modem's name wasn't there, or was renamed so I couldn't connect. This happened 3-4 months ago and again tonight. I restarted the modem and changed the password. Have I been hacked? Thanks!

You should definitely monitor if it happens again. It's not possible to know by your description if it's a malfunction or result of human interaction.

Good call on resetting and changing the password. To confirm- do you mean resetting the modem to factory settings or restarting operation (power cycle) ?

I mean resetting the modem(with the pin at the back and holding for 10 seconds) to restart the modem and change to a new password. I will ask the neighbors to see if they've encountered this problem.

Hi, no, it's not a hack, it's the modem that froze. Check that the modem is plugged into the power socket on its own. If the electric current varies it can do that.

This modem heats up a lot so it needs a ventilated place.

    Hello Valerie F. #21386

I kindly have to inform you that I have verified your network connection in my tools and, looking over the mainline reference diagnostics, I noticed there are some maintenance works carried out in your area.
At this moment, I can only assure you that our technicians are working around the clock to restore the service in the shortest possible time, so you can enjoy the service that you are paying for at full capacity.
As a useful tip, for the moment, I can only suggest you check the light "@" of your modem from time to time and if it is stable, not blinking ( lit green), your connection was restored and you will need to electrically restart the modem once more.
To restart the modem, you can disconnect the power cable from the back, wait for 10 seconds then plug it back in.
