VoLTE compatibilty test #TEST

I have a Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro with the VoLTE enabled. When I try the suggested compatibilty test for VoLTE it fails. I know my phone is not on the Fizz list of compatible phones but the test worked on a Xiaomi 13 phone. Is there anyone else with my same phone which had any success?

    Hi @oberon

At the moment Xiaomi phones are not certificate by Fizz therefore, they will not be able to use VoLTE with Fizz, since Fizz will not provision the phone

My phone is also not on the compatibility list, but it somehow passed the #TEST 🤔

According to the above link, while at home, make a call by dialling #TEST (#8378) from your phone associated with your Fizz mobile plan and listen to the voicemail to check Volte compatibility.

But what if you didn't subscribe to voicemail on your plan? Does that mean you can't call #TEST to check if your phone is Volte compatible?

I don't have voicemail in my plan. When I call #TEST, it fails to complete the call and I get a text message from Fizz saying:

Action required: Your current plan did not allow you to complete this call. Please buy an Add-On https://fizz.ca/s/15/en/142206011/

So is there another way to check if your phone is Volte compatible?

Any news on whether fizz is planning to fix this? I have a Blackview BV8800 and an iPhone 6 Plus and an iPhone SE, but they all fail to connect with the #TEST even though they all support VoLTE.

iPhone SE should work at least. They all are in the list of compatible phones. Upgrade to most recent iOS, then go to Settings → General → About and confirm the popup about installing the latest Carrier Settings and reboot.

Your Redmi Note 8 Pro isn’t on Fizz’s VoLTE list, so the test failing is expected. Some Xiaomi phones allow VoLTE activation through hidden settings or dialer codes. You can try:

Dial *#*#86583#*#* to disable VoLTE check.
Go to Settings > SIM cards & mobile networks and enable VoLTE.
Restart your phone and test VoLTE.
If it still doesn’t work, Fizz may not support your phone for VoLTE, and upgrading might be the only solution.

How do you check if your phone is compatible

How to check if your phone is VoLTE-compatible at Fizz:

    1. Important: check your SIM card first to prevent the test for your phone from failing because of an incompatible SIM card. A VoLTE-compatible SIM card shows a red lightning bolt icon on the sim card.
    2. Then, while at home, make a call by dialling #TEST (#8378) from your phone associated with your Fizz mobile plan and listen to the voicemail.
      1. If that message confirms your call went through the LTE network, you have nothing to do.
      2. If, however, you hear another message, your phone is not VoLTE-compatible and must be replaced.

Another way to confirm if your phone is VoLTE-compatible at Fizz is to check whether the “LTE” icon remains on the screen during a call.

Make sure, your phone is connected to the LTE data network. Usually LTE or 4G is shown somewhere at the top of your home screen. Open the phone dialer and "dial" the following "number":

    #8378

Make sure to include the hash. Listen to the voice reply. It will either say that the number does not exist or it will tell you that you have just made a successful VoLTE call.

You may also want to watch LTE/4G indicator on your phone while making the call. See whether it is stable or switches to UMTS/3G/HSPA/H+ or something like this.
