Just joined the Fizz family. Still waiting the SIM card to be delivered.
Planning on having the Fizz SIM USB-tethered 24/7 to a single-board mini computer to provide backup access and remote-controlled power cycling to my primary Home Internet modem and router in case either ever fail while I'm away from home.
Depending on how often it's needed how much data the backup link needs while idle, I may gift data on a regular basis once it accumulates
By the way, anyone know if a notification about incoming SMS text messages is available through the USB tethering port of either Android or iPhone without rooting? Preferably including message content and sender number.

To my knowledge, tethering does not support SMS.
However, if you have a USB dongle, you should be able to read SMS as well, I did it in the past without any problem
For the iPhone the story is a bit different, if you have a mac you can read the SMS too and also call from your mac for example.

Check some Chinese websites for inexpensive USB dongle, but it might take a while to get it.

It does look like it. I had been hoping to get the same kind of access through the phone than from an USB dongle.

Yes, I am aware of that option, unfortunately, these dongles are more pricy than a cheap Android phone these days...0 -

For sure using the bluetooth must be possible, like what they do in the cars. However, I don't have a clue for the API
Did you try to connect the phone using the bluetooth and opening the serial port to send AT commands?
