A high-speed train between Quebec City and Toronto
The train will be able to reach speeds of 300 km/h
For the people of Quebec City, among others, what do you think?
Good idea?

Crazy how coming from a European country myself, this is nothing that revolutionary honestly. I still don't understand how it hasn't been done earlier since on the eastern Canada, the mayor cities are all arranged in a very convenient straight line. That makes so much sense to me to have a high speed train connecting them…

It's about time. Why wouldn't it be a good idea?
You get from Quebec to Montreal in less than an hour compared to 3 hours driving (or more) if you are stuck in traffic with so many cars around.0 -
It would be nice. It would also be nice to have more cities relied with high speed trains. Like Québec/Montréal/Ottawa.
0 -
they should do it for the whole Canada
0 -
The cost is rocketing probably and the idea itself is great.
0 -
Very good idea!

Yes I totally agree! In europe its so easy to move long distance fast with all their trains. They should do like in europe.
0 -
Japan does it very well too. It's so well done and comfortable.
1 -
That's nice! It will be harder due to the size of Canada but it would be nice to have fast ground transportation like that!
0 -
What is boring is fast and inexpensive does not rhyme together.
1 -
nothing is inexpensive these days…😭

Great to hear about this news. More connectivity is needed to make it easy for travellers.
0 -
Yea totally, but it might be less expensive then a flight. If it isnt I dont see the advantage.
0 -
cool idea , let’s see if it happens!
0 -
I mean connecting the major cities would be enough for now… you don't need to connect the whole Canada
0 -
Yes it will be enough for now. But in like 20 or 30 years it would be nice too see more trains if it work well.
0 -
how much faster would it actually be tho?
0 -
If it will run at 300-350 km/h as the european ones, it will be way faster and more convenient than flying
0 -
yea and less air pollution with the flights too. hopefully it will be less expensive
0 -
that’s crazy fast, wow!
0 -
That would be realy nice to travel fast without taking the plane!
0 -
It would be awesome if its less expensive! I'm also pretty its faster to board a tran then a plane with all the security.
0 -
definitely. I can say that was the case when I was living in Japan
0 -
Hopefully the price will be good. So it will be a good alternative to planes.
0 -
It has to be less expensive otherwise it doesn't make sense
0 -
Yes but when you are in the train you actually cannot feel it
0 -
hmm depends on the distance
0 -
I was specifically referring to the Quebec city-Toronto connection. In this specific case, it must be cheaper than flying
0 -
I understood that. In Japan, they fix the prices based on the distance. Quebec City-Toronto is still a long distance. But I agree that it will be cheaper than flying indeed.
0 -
Exactly, hopefully they will take that into consideration before starting this project.
0 -
the problem with projects like these is that they only think of the short to medium goals. Rarely for the long term. I hope they can get expertise from nations that already have those systems in place
0 -
Yes I hope so too. One thing is sure, it will cost more then what they will say.
0 -
alot of traffic there good idea
0 -
Yes it will help for that!
1 -
Great idea. Will it ever pan out though?
1 -
Great idea. Hopefully it works out.

Honestly, I think it will be very difficult to build any public transportation nowadays. My country started develop HSR project in the 70s, then eventually started operation in 2007 for only 350 km. Recently, there is a new plan to purchase new trains from Japan, but the cost is extremely expensive.
0 -
Which country is it exactly?
0 -
They started building the Eglinton crosstown LRT from 2011, that is less than 1km in a year. So they should be able to finish the high speed train within 1000 years.

Taiwan high speed rail. It uses a mix of Japanese and European control system. Current trains are 700T, new trains will be N700S. HSR was a major reason why there are almost no more flights between major cities. It’s less than 70CAD for the whole route without discount. Around 4 trains per hour at major cities.

The price is very reasonable, for $70.
0 -
Good price, 70$
I would like to visit Asia one day!
0 -
whoa that's good!
0 -
Yes good prive for this!

Great idea, lets hope it gets implemented soon.
