I'm looking at switching to fizz - but travelling in hawaii and globally over next year
Looking to switc to fizz, but want to make sure I understand how it'll work for me. based out of Ontario, but travelling to hawaii next month for 3 months, then globally for 3-5 months before coming back. Will I be able to just keep changing my plan as needed while I travel?
When I look in the details about plans it says "The majority of your usage must be within your subscription zone, regardless of the coverage chosen for your plan" so this concerns me.. as my subscription zone would be within ontario. Not sure whether it will work or not? It's unclear, any help/advice would be appreciated!

Hi @cc_mike
Yes you can change your plan without any issue, however, you should know that there is a freezing period the 4.5 days before the next billing cycle.
In order to use in Hawaii the best options is to have a Canada/USA plan, if your are using for 3 months you should be ok, outside Canada and USA you need to buy travelling addon (only for outgoing SMS and data, the calls are not supported yet)
To use the phone for calls in the USA you also need a Fizz's certified VoLTE phone
And don't forget to use a referral code in order to get the 40$ credit if activated before the 12 of September

Fizz doesn't have talk and text outside Canada and the US. If you are travelling outside this area you should consider that before switching.

What ? Look here:

You can call and receive calls only in Canada and US for now. For US you should have a corresponding plan and VoLTE certified phone.
The page you are referring to is for buying add-ons for inside Canada usage. Same for international calls, you can buy a package but you can call the international numbers only from Canada and US.

Hi @cc_mike
I hope I do not get a warning from the admins about this post, as Freedom Mobile is owned by the same parent company as Fizz.
Freedom Mobile offers a package that is a reasonable price and includes 92 countries for talk/text/data. Read the terms and conditions carefully.
I think you have to be active for three months before all the roaming kicks in, so check on that.
It may be worth your while to get a Canada/USA plan with Fizz (they are cheap), activate your Freedom plan and keep the fizz account alive.
When you are done in Hawaii your Freedom plan should be good to go. When you get back to Canada, dump the freedom plan and switch back to Fizz for the prices and benefits.
Again, please read the fine print for the Freedom Plan. I have one phone on Freedom for international travel for my wife and my phone is Fizz for Canada/USA only.
Cheers,
Brad
