Electric vehicle, do you have one and if so, what is your opinion?
Hi, I'm starting to look at electric vehicles. Do you have one and if so are you satisfied with the performance, reliability and value for money?
I notice that the range is often between 400 and 500km.

I'm a new EV owner. I love it...zero issues. Having said that, your use case is important. In the city or 50-100km per day and having the ability to charge at home is where it shines. If you have to public charge, it gets expensive and inconvenient. Forget about travelling, road tripping with it...it definitely adds a lot of time and could be frustrating/stressful.
I don't know what car you're looking at but 400-500km range probably is the theory..hardly practical. You can minus 40% of that when it gets cold.

nope. not stable enough to own. maybe in 10 years once the charging and cold weather issues are fixed.

I have one and I'm satisfied with it I would realy recommand you install a level 2 charger if you get one The winter you can lose up to 40% when its realy cold and if you doesnt manage your heating In my previous car "ice" I was leaving the heating till it was so hot inside but electric you kinda have to learn to manage your power If you are looking to do some road trip i'll sudgest you check how fast your the car can charge on a fast charging station it can make a big difference on the time you spend charging!

The thing that scares me about getting an EV is the fact that Hydro Québec has problems supplying enough electricity for the grid right now.
Just imagine getting rid of all gasoline powered cars and replacing them with electrical. Where would we get the power?

Yes it affect your range alot! Rims make you lose too I dont know why but they tend to put huge rims on high trim new ev's You could have like 25km less going from 18inch to 20 inch

Totally agree to make it work by 2035 they will have to build new dam or something else cause it wont be enough with to support going 100% electric with the infrastructur we have right now

It is impossible that 53 foot trucks and other trucks etc. Operate while electric in 2035 at least in my opinion.

Don't think the technology is good enough to completely rely on it. I do a lot of driving so it would be really annoying stop often to charge.

Ive been driving the Kona Ev since 2019 can do around 400km Get what you can afford with the most range. install a lvl 2 charger in your home. Cost effective if you drive many km per year.

It is equipped with heat pump. gets warm fast lose 25% of range in cold weather. 200000km going strong.

My girlfriend and I bought a blazer ev and equinox ev so far its great I'm doing around what ia announced for the range My girlfriend has the equinox with smaller wheel awd it is supposed to do 459km ans it is often at 500km in her car she doing more then what is is announced Cant tell for the winter yet they were released recently

Yes I am! I wish I knew how much tires cost for 21 inch before I bought the car I might have took the other trim with 19 inch instead

It is good the equinox awd is 0-100km/h in 5.9 there's faster ev out there but the soundproofing and ride quality is awesome! They also tend to have a big difference of acceleration between fwd and awd since awd they normaly add a motor in the back

Pretty nice range. Probably in winter is a bit less if they don't have heat pumps, probably a 30-40% less range on winter

They both have heat pump if I remember correctly it help till it reach -10 or - 15 outside But yea I totally agree it will probably be 30% less and more if you are a chilly personne heating suck up alot of juice!

Yeah exactly well said, either way even gasoline cars, it takes 50% more when it's really cold to go up to operational temperature and with the heater and defroster, fuel economy decrease. Either way it's a win-win or a lose-lose both gasoline and electric

Hybrid without a doubt. The battery will be big enough to do short intra-city trips and the gas engine will be enough for those longer trips or if you forget to top up the battery.

Yes exactly but there's a bit more planning involved with electric most of the time its fine but can be annoying sometimes One time I was short in time and all chargers were taken its not like gaz and there are gone after 5 minutes I should have planned more tine haha

Damn that should be hard for you but it's good that it happened sooner than later because you take that as a lesson so you plan something that won't happen again like doing it at home, or in another spot or even changing for a better range or bigger battery car or suv EV

Yes I totaly agree in some case its the best Like the prius prime and rav4 prime they have pretty good range if your work is close you could probable able to only use electric most of the time!

I've heard some non plug-in hybrid don't use fuel up when speed is around 40 km/h and only works with the battery constantly charging it which is unlimited below 40 km/h like school zones and such, imagine routing your route on Google Maps with "only school zone" 🤣

I dont know about the speed but summer you can get by with 100% electric but the winter you can since the heat come fron your engine you will always use some gaz
