    Good morning @Tmac

For an additional 5.00 a month, consider upgrading to the Canada/USA plan.

Note that you must make the changes 4.5 before you travel, and then your plan, including voice, text and data roams with you!

Site faviconHow do I change my mobile plan?

Also note that if you change your plan and then want to go back to your old plan, you old plan may not be available and you would have to select a new plan.

For 5.00 a month, it is definitely worth it for the convenience alone. You can go across Canada and back and forth to the USA without doing anything.

I just returned from the USA and had T-Mobile coverage everywhere that I used to have converge with a Roam Like Home option that used AT&T.

Btw, the USA has disabled 3G, so you need to have a Fizz certified VoLTE phone, which you most likely have since you are a new customer.
    Cheers,

    Hi @Tmac

Your best option is to buy an addon, however, you should buy for the end of august Fizz has a promotion

United States: reduced prices now available for our Travel add-ons.

Or you can download the maps in google maps for offline use too

With the increase on prices, I will think twice before doing it for use only data

Everytime you change a plan, there is not warranty to get the same options and the same price.

Moreover, to callback if you have a wifi you can still use apps to do it for free

    Good morning @elena code xzi4t
Tmac did mention that they wanted to make occasional calls back to Canada, which I assume to mean voice calls.

For those on a tight budget who only travel occasionally to the USA, I agree a data add on may be a better fit.

But for 5.00 a month, the convenience of being able to go whenever you want, especially last minute, and not have to worry about keeping track on how much data you are using vs your regular plan upgrading to the Canada/USA plan is a great option as well.

    Cheers,

    Brad

However, he should know that it can have a surprise when he wants to change back the plan, having a potential increase in price. For sure if it will be over 5$ it will be better off to stay with Canada/USA Plan. But he should also check if the phone is VoLTE certified (as mentioned) since there is no guarantee

And using only for data for maps, I will prefer using offline maps and use the calls under wifi with some applications.

I would just get the data add on and not switch plans. Lately, there's been a few price increases so I wouldn't want to risk it. Just the data is fine. Just use apps to call and send messages.

You are right. I wouldn't want to have to change my plan with the current prices.
