Hi @marc_aurel
do you have the link?
since it will be difficult to know what they take into consideration
if the maximum speed that you can have?
the average speed?
1 -
Because statistics are taken taking into account all providers and in Canada, many providers still use coax or even DSL in some remote areas! But don't be all wrong, the fastest and most reliable internet is also available in Canada
0 -
Because not everyone in canada is using fibre internet, jus like everyone using fizz 😅
0 -
Because 15 other countries have faster internet speed than Canada
3 -
It's probably average on all the people leaving in every country I guess
0 -
Difficult to comment without the information, however, whom need more then 1Gbps?
1 -
Given that I didn't read anything about the study... It could take into account also commercial uses and in that case a lot of companies actually need a lot of bandwidth
1 -
We can speculate on anything, it can also the price/speed

1Gbps is only available on some areas, depending on your location.0 -
In some countries the minimum speed from an Internet plan is 400 Mbps. In here you can find plans with 10-15 Mbps.0
-
I don't really need such a speed but that would be nice nonetheless 😅
0 -
This top is available on multiple the sites concerning the Internet speed.0
-
I'm good with 200 mbps for now, I don't care about a faster connection
0 -
Yeah I agree, but you never know what you will need in the future

Because of this thing we receive all the news harder than the others.0 -
Canada is still no. 16 according to the last surveys.
0 -
Do you think we will see any improvement in the future?
0 -
Just if the others will stop the investments…
0 -
I wonder if the ranking of 16th is objective (e.g. average speed available, top speed available, etc.) or subjective (e.g. Canadians are less happy with their internet than Americans).
0 -
OK.... 16 is not bad0
-
The ranking is not done by the Canadians.
0 -
I think it's based on the average speed
0 -
If it's average speed then I would imagine a small country like Singapore will be #1 since laying fibre across the country would be much cheaper than doing it in Canada.
2 -
You could be right…
0 -
These too if you take the extreme but in the same time there are some other countries in front( biger surface).
0 -
I would really like to see the list! We are the second largest country in the world but very concentrated in the cities.
Still, if we are 16 out of 200 countries, I could guess from my rule we are behind Singapore, Taiwan, South Korea, Denmark, Ireland, the Netherlands, Belgium, etc. so many small countries.
0 -
I'm gonna try to google it and see what I find
0 -
It's important to remember that you're at the mercy of the server your downloading from.0
-
We are talking about an average in here, not isolated cases.

Same here. I wanna see the list when you get it.0 -
Though here Canada has slower Internet speed, it indeed has higher price 😂😂😂
Yeah, that's right! Lower speed, higher price.
0 -
You can complain this means that you have some Internet.
0 -
Don't go too far from the network signal.
0 -
It's as simple as the fact that Canada networks are run by an Oligopoly (few large quasi-monopolies), so they can keep prices high and are under no pressure to innovate.
3 -
Yes, but lately they feigned a certain compétition between them.
0 -
Yea .. it's kinda annoying that's why I'm happy to support MVNOs
0 -
Between time search for better deals. 😆
0 -
Like in cell network, no competition and high prices.
0 -
Just waiting!!!
0 -
16th isn't that bad.
0 -
It could be better.
0 -
But who is the top 10?
0 -
Lack of competition.
1 -
It's due to a mix of factors including substantial investment in urban fiber-optic networks by other big providers, the challenges of servicing its vast and sparsely populated geography, and varying regional performance. While urban areas benefit from high-speed fiber connections, rural regions lag due to higher costs and logistical challenges. Moreover, regulatory factors and competition among major providers influence the overall speed and quality of internet services
0 -
Low population density, oligopoly of a few companies, no incentives for innovation. However, #16 in the world is not bad.
0 -
In the whole world, 16th is not the best but not the worse!
0 -
There is always place for improvement, just happy that it works! 💚🌞

Totally agree with you too! In rural and remote areas the solution will be the Starlink Internet! They are extremely useful for these areas, what do you think 🤔
