Can I Port active number to existing Fizz plan?

I've asked support this question but I'm not getting a direct answer. Can anyone here help?

I have an active fizz plan with Phone number 123-123-1234. I have an active plan at a different provider with phone number 789-789-7890.

I do not want my Fizz phone number 123-123-1234 and would like to abandon it. I would like to use my other phone number 789-789-7890 with my current SIM card and current fizz plan. Is this possible?

Extra/side information. I got a random number to test Fizz in my area. I've had a bit of an issue with calls but it's good enough. Now I want to move my number from the other company to my active Fizz sim. That's all. Can I Change my number, taking it from a plan I have? Thanks.

    Hi @referral_WD953

You can transfer, but you need to have a Fizz SIM card. If you want a new number, the procedure is different. Therefore, you don't need to port the previous number; instead, you need to activate a plan and pick a number in your zone.

When you say that you have a SIM card that has an active plan, it's not possible. You need to close your plan, wait for it to be closed, and only after that can you use it again.

    This is the guide

I don't think you've answered my question. I have a fizz sim card that is active that I'm using today. It has a phone number and everything. I want to abandon that phone number and port my other provider number over.

    Hi @referral_WD953

You need to close your Fizz plan, wait that the plan is closed only after you can reuse the SIM and you need to reopen a new plan

You cannot port a number on an active plan!

Thanks @Jess_i88b6 This is the first time I've heard of reusing an old sim, which makes your original reply make more sense. Thank you.

It sucks that I can not just port a number over to my active plan. I hope the discounts are around long enough for me to close my account and open a new one. Annoying but I guess it's my only option. Thanks

I can confirm you can reuse the SIM card to activate a new plan. I did it recently and it works exactly as it was new. As @Jess_i88b6 said, you've got to cancel your actual plan with Fizz and the do a new activation with the same SIM card (if you don't have the activation code you have to contact customer support) by porting your number during the procedure.

My only problem with all this is that I want to do this in ~3 months. I'm afraid that the plan I have now will not be available and I'll end up paying more, meaning I'll be actually looking to go to a different provider.

    Hello @referral_WD953

As some of our customers already specified, in order to transfer your number, you need to cancel your current plan (My plans → Manage my plan → Unsubscribe). Your plan will be cancelled at the end of your payment cycle, however keep in mind that the unsubscription has to be processed at least 5 days before the end of cycle date; more details can be found here https://fizz.ca/en/faq/unsubscribe

After you cancel your plan, you can access fizz.ca/activate → Transfer my number and then follow the on-screen instructions. Keep in mind that in order to transfer your number, you need to have an active plan with the current provider. I'll leave this FAQ for you so you can see more regarding this topic https://fizz.ca/en/faq/activation-how-do-i-transfer-my-current-phone-number-to-fizz

Regarding the discounts, we do get them very often and also you can easily update your plan price to the discounted one from your account, when there's one available. (My plans → Manage my plan → Change my plan).

    Have a good rest!
