Porting number to Fizz

I live in Ottawa (South Keys area). I ordered Fizz phone and phone service service. My SIM card was activated and I received temporary number. Later, I wanted to port in my Fido cellphone number so customer support told me deactivate current Fizz account and to buy a new SIM card, which I did. Now when I try to port in my Fido 613 (Ottawa area code) cell phone number Fizz is telling me that they don't service my area and that I should get another number without any further explanation. Their service area expands way further from where I live, yet they are only willing to provide service to me if I take a new phone number which doesn't make any sense at all.

If anyone is reading this please be aware that Fizz might not honor their claim that they service Ottawa area so buyer beware. I'm now stuck with expensive phone, two SIM cards and no service. The worst experience with mobile service company I had so far.

    Hi @Globe_98

They serve only Ottawa region, for some reason they don't recognize your phone number in the right Fizz coverage

Only the support can explain it to you , sorry

    You can chat in direct

    • Sign into your account

    • Follow the link on this page: https://fizz.ca/en/faq/im-unable-log-my-fizz-account-what-do-i-do

    • Wait 3 seconds for the green bubble with a '❔' appears at the bottom right of the browser, if you use a phone you must use it in desktop or horizontal mode

    • Choose the option 💬 chat

    • If the green bubble does not appear make sure your ad blocker is disabled, otherwise try with another browser.

Or by private message on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/fizzca/

Chat support simply refused to explain why they can't or do not want to port in my number. My case was closed and email I received did not explain it in a way that it makes sense.
    Here is what email said:

Kindly be informed that our technical department worked on our ##### ticket and, when they examined the region of the phone number that you'd like to transfer, as Fizz, we do not provide service to this region. Therefore, the system does not accept the phone number and there has been error occurs. In the background, this error appears as 'not province'. So this means that we as Fizz do not serve this region.

    @Globe_98

It seems that they answered "we do not provide service to this region" it seems that it is outside their coverage area.

Probably in their DB the phone number doesn't belong to the Ottawa region

    Hello there everyone.

I did some verifications on my side and saw that the number is indeed outside our subscription area for the moment. This leaves our member here with the option to get a random number should he want to join our mobile network.

    Have a good one.
