I have an urgent question about my data. Essentially I noticed that my data consumption has increa…
a lot lately. Are there any settings that can be changed (using iOS 16.5) in order to reduce data usage? In other words what can I do to limit data from my device settings and personalized options. A lot of my data seems to be coming from Safari, Music App and Settings App itself too.
Also, because I am almost out of data, is there anyone interested in gifting some unused data?
My referral is UG4EA
Thank you all in advance for your help

yes you can limit the data usage on your iPhone limiting the single application, you can also monitor with application is using the data. This article is a good start https://support.apple.com/en-ca/HT201299
Sorry but I don't have any at this moment, I would like to suggest, if you are on Facebook, to try to post your request in these groups.

PS: I have already seen people asking for data without having a data option. Please note that you must have a plan that includes data in order to receive data as a gift.

You can go in your applications parameters and make them unable to use data. By doing so, your applications will only update when on Wi-Fi. This is the updates that cost a lot of surprising data! Good luck with that !

Sorry I can't donate data anymore.
As other users suggested, you can limit the consumption app by app and you also can set the applications to update only on Wi-Fi. Additionally several apps have a specific low-consumption mode you can activate from the settings, which doesn't load videos or extra info that are often not needed.

I don`t know about iOS but Android has options to limit background data and turn on a data saver. Browsers, Maps and apps like that use a lot of data.

I have a bit extra, so I shot you over 0.5G.

Thank you everyone.
I looked at my daily report of data consumption. Yesterday June 23 I used 17.97GB. Which is way more than normal, considering that I only use my phone for emails and calls.
In the settings app, I modified my data preferences to fewer and even none, where possible. But it seems like there’s a lot of background activities and all my data is being pushed without me knowing
I even turned off background app refresh but that led to more than seventeen gigabytes yesterday
I will erase all data and content of my phone (to reset it).

What a good idea! A reset is a must. Hopefully will fix it.

Did you hotspot your data yesterday? For background apps, I don't think using that much data.
But it seems the iPhone receives and sends photos/images via data, if data disabled, you can no longer receive and send photos. That's why I'm not a fan of 🍎.

That's a crazy amount of data spent!

Maybe your phone is using data even when connected to WiFi, try disabling WiFi assist: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT205296

I had this happen to me recently; used nearly 10 gigs in a day. Turns out my Spotify was set to download over data, and I guess my downloaded playlists changed so it downloaded a ton of new music :)))
Sent you a bit of data! Hope it helps!
