Hi
My current plan in Canada is: Minutes Unlimited | Texts Unlimited | Coverage Canada | Voicemail Yes
I would like to know when travelling to Europe, if I need to turn on my phone to receive a 2FA text, will there be a charge for the text and if there are other associated roaming charges?
I plan to buy a local sim card when I'm at the destination. Of course in the meantime I'll turn on the airplane mode.
In the "Travel add-ons" I see the following (2 images). Since I want to receive texts, I assume there's no fee involved. Is this correct?
Thank you in advance.

no hidden fees with fizz you have no money in your wallet and no travel options no fees that will be charged
if you don't have a travel option, you book no text messages

Receiving SMS is free everywhere in the world. Sending SMS is pay per use outside of coverage area

Thank you. @Sébastien code ZXEL1
So it's free to receive a text when I'm in Europe?
Also then as long I don't answer send a text or pick up a phone call or check voice mail, then no charges?
In other words, I don't have to turn on my airplane mode?
If feels like it's too good to be true. Sorry for double checking with more questions.

This is why I like Fizz. No surprise roaming charges. We as users have control exactly on what we want to spend 😊

Good to know indeed. Have you tried this when travelling?

Not really but I will travel to Europe also soon. I am planning to get an Airalo eSIM for data only.

Ah just thought of something. New issue.
I probably don't want to access any banking institution on any wifi, so even if I can receive a 2FA text on my phone, I should not be logging into my bank account at that time. Plus my phone only allows 1 slot for sim.

Love to hear your experience.
Yes if I get an eSim card, then it's possible to use it for data to load the bank webpage, then receive the 2FA security code text on the Fizz sim card. (I have no eSim experience though. I'm just assuming in theory.)

If you can find a safe wifi, you can just pop the sim in to receive the sms for the 2FA and you are good to go...
