Hi Kevin
No you are not obligated, personally I will wait and test the line, moreover the appointment can be in a week or two. Therefore, overlap the 2 service for a couple of days.
This what fizz suggests
Avoid doubling up.
Once your Home Internet plan is activated, don’t forget to contact your previous provider to cancel your Internet subscription with them, and avoid paying double.

If you decide to subscribe before the nov 18th, you can have 40$ credit to new customers.
If you need one, there is a list of referral codes here https://community.fizz.ca/questions/2198337-place-referral-codes
You can choose mine, both parties will receive the bonus credit once you have paid your second bill.6 -
Hi Kevin,
No need to cancel before. You can cancel the other provider once everything works fine with Fizz.

Hi Kevin,
To find out if you are eligible for Fizz home internet, you can go here to simulate a registration
https://fizz.ca/en/internet
Select your plan and enter your address. If you are eligible, you can enter your payment information and select an installation date.
On the installation date, the technician will bring the Fizz modem and hook up the cabling into your home. You can consult the overall Fizz guide here: https://fizz.ca/en/internet/how-it-works
You can also write back here if you have any questions. Fizz customer service is also available:
https://fizz.ca/en/contact-us
Once you are satisfied that Fizz internet works well for you, you can call Altima to cancel. They accept cancellations on the same day and they will also refund any amount owing to you.
And yes this is a good time to join Fizz as they are giving $40 bonus credit to new customers (until November 18th).
If you need one, there is a list of referral codes here

You can choose mine or use the code of someone who has helped you.
As mentioned, both parties will receive the bonus credit once you have paid your second bill.

I would wait until you confirm fizz is working properly then cancel the old one6

Kevin,
Please, keep your actual residential internet service valid until your Fizz residential connexion will be fully functional after the installation with the technician.
Then, cancel the previous provider after it.5 -
I suggest to wait until the fizz internet work before cancelling with the other company. It's just a precautions in case fizz internet doesn't work right now and avoiding ending up with no internet connectivity for a unknown time4
