As others wrote, it doesn't matter which service you have or subscribe it. As long you have an active plan and your friend is a new customer, you are both eligible for the referral bonus.
Make sure your friend enters your referral code when they are activating the plan (on the screen that shows the plan fee along with the taxes).8 -
