Options for extending 5Ghz Wi-Fi range?

I've turned off band steering and am looking to fully disable the 2.4 Ghz as it's way too congested in my area and gives me extremely slow internet speeds. Problem is my 5Ghz range is quite weak and is not feasible for the entire home.
I'm in a ~1000 sqft one floor condo, and the Fizz hitron is on one end of the home (unfortunately I am not able to move it to another location). I'm looking for options to improve the signal/range of the 5Ghz.
I've been looking into getting a separate router and disable the hitron, or maybe even getting a mesh set up. Before I invest in something like that, I
wanted to see if anyone had any ideas of improving the range without additional equipment?

You can start by changing wireless channel to see if it helps (for both 2.4 and 5).
