Refurbished Phones

I wonder if it would be possible for Fizz to partner up with a reputable refurbished/demo phone site where we could buy phones we already know work on the Fizz network but wouldn't have to be run by Fizz. Maybe Fizz members get a discount on phones, or discounts on phones could a be a perk. I don't know the landscape in Canada for companies that sell phones like that, but I am thinking of something like Gazelle.com in the US. Food for thought.

Personnally, I feel there are already many ways to get phones (used or new) and we can find discounts on them quite easilly. Fizz is meant to be a simple, cheap (low-priced) mobile and internet provider.
What would be Fizz' interest in selling discounted phones? To attract new customers? Today, most people are not on their very first phone and many have lived the "subsidized" phones on 2 year plans (and some of us knew it when it was 3 years). Actually, Rogers announced that they will no longer offer subsidized phones. They split it to have a mobile service and a phone financing service.
As a BYOD and user installed service (get the SIM, put it in and test it), I don't think Fizz would have any benefits to do this.
But that's just my 2 cents worth :-D

Fizz's plan is to be a highly focused low cost BYOD service provider. I do not believe they would want to enter the consumer hardware market for phones.

I must agree with the above answers, something too big to tackle and not their focus. I like the idea of another person question about having a Trade/swap/buy/sell Forum/marketplace/facebook page ran by members to trade or swap or sell against the,selves.6

I was thinking of a partnership, not Fizz actually selling the phones themselves. It is understandable for them not to want to get into subsidizing phones and dealing with warranties etc, but a partnership with a reputable reseller would be huge value added and I think go a long way to attract people who aren't as comfortable buying phones on the resale market. I will happily keep buying phones on ebay, but I have friends for whom that is the barrier. They could have a tab on their site that would take you to the partner(s) site to purchase phones and it could be clear that Fizz isn't liable and that the purchase is with that secondary seller. I really think there are people are on the fence as I have sold Fizz hard to anyone who will listen, but for some the idea of going out and buy a non-carrier phone is a barrier.8

As you know , there is support issue in fizz side since beginning. It is not right time to even think about it , before fizz make their support system ready.4

There are plenty of stores that sell refurbished phones. Would hate for Fizz prices to go up for this.1

I work with the elderly and purchasing phones on ebay and kijiji isn't really an option for most, especially for those (many) who don't have family to help them. Given the attractive pricing of the service, a way to purchase refurbished phones would open up the service to a lot of people. I'd imagine most of us on here are pretty comfortable with and understand how to purchase used phone online and otherwise, unfortunately many are not.
And to clarify, I don't think Fizz should start selling phones themselves. But partner with a reliable reseller, thus no change in cost for the actual mobile service.1 -

gazelle.com doesn't sell their phones cheap you can get much better deal ex. you can try best buy refurbished phones1
