iMessage is using data to send a message, so it’s either using Wifi if you’re connected to one, or it’s using your data. You can change them to “text message” (green bubble) if you want to use the cellular message only5

iMessages (blue bubble) require mobile data or wifi to work.
SMS (green bubble) are covered under your unlimited messaging plan.
