Is fizz the only Canadian service provider charging for basic voicemail?

As a company that feels revolutionary in many ways, it feels a bit odd that they charge for voicemail. I think That all other service providers just offer a free basic version. Then, if the user wants something better, they can pay for visual voicemail.
It might be the only example where I think fizz should read from the competition.
That being said, 2$ is not too much, but it still adds up enough to become significant year after year.

Yes, it's a bit weird to charge for voicemail. Even other discount companies don't have a separante charge for voicemail (lucky, public mobile). If you don't have unlimited mintues it just counts as minutes.11

At first, voicemail cost was $1. Now it is $2. I agree that is a steep increase.
However, Fizz prices are generally lower. I like that only people who want voicemail are being charged for it. Nowadays, a lot of people only text and do not even use the phone for calling.
Once you level up on your account and gain more slots and upgrades, you will get additional discount(s) which will offset the cost of voicemail.
Some other prepaid providers include basic voicemail (max 3 messages) with their plan. And they will charge extra if you want full voicemail capability.

Yes, I too find it strange that they charge for voicemail. On the other hand, you have to compare all your features (rollover, perks etc) and your total monthly cost, with a comparable service elsewhere.11

Other online companies do that too just to get a bit more extra money7

No, many other charge for it or it’s included in the too expensive plan4

True, but the plan prices are generally much cheaper than any provider around. plus, I think you can unlock free voicemail at a certain level5

The free voicemail upgrade was never really working.
It looks like Fizz has now removed it.
Anyways it is better to use one of the other upgrade.
