Fraud calls from Africa?
Hello,
Someone from Republic of Congo, Salvador, Central African republic calls me and my wife in the last few days. The phone rings for a second and they closed immediately. We don’t know anyone in those countries and do not expect any calls from that part of the world. We didn’t call back to any of these calls as I believe it is fraud. They called us 14 times for 3 days from 14 different numbers.
Fizz, please take some actions.
Thanks

This spam/fraud calls can happen with any telephone carrier.
You can take action right away...
If you have an Android phone, you can block the calls.
In your phone setting, you can block calls based on the starting or ending digits.
In your general settings, you can enable Do Not Disturb so that only calls on your contact list go through.
There are also various Apps available on Google and Apple store to help block calls.

O_O 14 times for 3 days? Yikes!.. I did get some odd calls here and there but none from Africa and I blocked them afterwards which helped. If your phone has the option to block the calls then block them or as Fizzy said you can download apps to help block the calls.12

This is common on all carriers. I suggest you register yourself on the do not call list, which will most likely not be able to help you in this situation but will stop any telemarketers. https://lnnte-dncl.gc.ca/en
Something that WILL help you though, is downloading an app called Mr Number. You can enter a specific country code to block, so in your case, +242 for Congo, and that will block all calls from them.8 -
These are "One Ring Scam" calls, don't call them back. They use premium rate numbers to steal your money.
There's an article on CBC about this.

As another poster mentioned, you can setup your phone so that only people in your contact list will cause it to ring.
I've been getting these calls as well, each time from a different country.8
