Do I need to pay my device balance when transfering from Bell to Fizz?

I am thinking of transferring my number to Fizz. Now, I have a mobile plan with Bell.
The plan comes with a phone of course.
When I login to my Bell account I see that I have a device balance of 540$.
So what if i transfer my number to Fizz? What happens to that balance? Is Bell going to claim that money back from me or how is that working?

Yes it Will! They gave you à free phone but you pay a part of it every month for usuly 2 years.10

Of course not. Why would Fizz pay off your bill for you? You have no contract with Fizz. You could pay for one month and then cancel.9

Hi Marco, the $540 balance is from the rest of the phone to pay off. Since you had a contract with Bell you have to pay for the rest of the phone. Would be great Indeed if Fizz would buy back your contract! I was lucky, my contract was ending in may! Come back when your phone is pay! Fizz is great! You get free Mo in bonus every month and gifts! Loving it! And its cheap !7
