Hello,
I have been invited to participate as a beta tester and have a few questions.
I live in Ottawa and currently is a Rogers client. I receive my internet through their cable.
- Do I have to cancel my service with Rogers before I can test Fizz home internet?
- Does Fizz modem need to be plugged into videotron or rogers cable in order for it to work?
- Is Ottawa available as a testing area?
Thank you in advance for your help.

I'm not sure about the whole canceling your Rogers part, but when you login to your Fizz account and go to the Internet area, have you yet tried entering your address into the appropriate field? It will let you know there if your address is good to go.
I'm in Ottawa too, but my address is a no go since there is no cable where I am.6 -
In my case, I switched to Fizz from Teksavvy - My Teksavvy account was running on DSL (via Bell) with a dryloop, and the Fizz modem/router is cable via Videotron - I waited a couple of weeks to make sure my Fizz account was running smoothly before I disconnected and cancelled my Teksavvy internet, and both had running internet in the overlapping time. I believe if you're currently using Rogers, it would be a separate line and you could do the same.
As far as your address, and the availability of Fizz internet at your location, when you set it up you will have to enter your address to make sure.
Log in > Overview > "Create your plan, your way!" > Internet > Pick a Plan > Enter your address.
Hope that helps!5 -
As an ottawa resident who also received same e-mail and dig around with Fizz in past few days. The answer is: FORGET IT. Fizz internet is based on videotron and not available in Ottawa except Rockland (where has videotron).5

Depends of the case.On your case, you don't have to cancel with Rogers.
From Rogers to Fizz, it's a different network. So you don't need to cancel.
If it's a transfer from a company to another using the same network (for example Videotron to Fizz), they can usually do a transfer (they might send a technician if you add the phone service with Videotron as the coax is locked). I know, for DSL services (ex.: from Bell to Ebox, as Ebox is using the Bell network, for theses you need you to cancel first), cause they cannot have 2 DSL service active at the same address. This is why probably people are confused about if they have to cancel their services or not.1
