What phone are you using? When you go and pick the network manually, what network do you see?17

Fizz has network issue and they're fixing it.

He should still be able to connect to Fizz network and get 3G at least, no?17

Only finding FIZZ EXT 2G doesn't seem to be related to the current LTE issues. What kind of phone do you have? Is it compatible with the frequencies used by Fizz/Videotron? Has it ever properly connected to the Fizz network?15

I am using a huawei g620s-l01, which should be compatible.
I can only see the Fizz EXT 2G and 4G, but it can only connect to the 2G.
I have this issue since I got the sim card, more than a week ago.
Thanks14 -
2G seems to be GSM only : voice only.
Do you have data in your plan ?16 -
Yes I have data, but I can only make and receive some calls. Even calling is problematic, because they drop after 3 minutes.16

I'm sorry, but I don't think that phone is compatible with videotron's frequencies.13

Fizz is working on fixing the issue14

I checked with Huawei, they said it is compatible...
Thanks15 -
If you're not seeing any of the appropriate frequencies in Montreal, your phone is saying otherwise. I haven't seen any documentation that suggests your phone supports band 4/aws in 3G or 4G
.
Which frequencies must my phone support?
For an LTE-compatible phone configured with LTE network preferences:
Calls: Your device must support HSPA 850 MHz or 1900 MHz frequencies
Mobile data: Your device must have dual-frequency support for 1700/2100 MHz (also called AWS or band 4) or 700 MHz
.
https://fizz.ca/en/faq/compatible-devices
For a phone that only allows 3G or HSPA preferred:
Calls and / or mobile data: The phone must support the 1700/2100 MHz frequency (also called AWS)15 -
What do you see?13

According to https://www.phonemore.com/huawei-ascend-g620s-l01/specs/2514 and
https://fizz.ca/en/faq/compatible-devices your phone is compatible with Fizz.
If you could test your sim card with a different phone ( friends or familly) to see if the problem could be your phone or may be your location .16 -
This does not give me great confidence that your phone is compatible with a service that revolves around band 4/AWS. I may be wrong, and you could try and chat with a customer service agent to find out why your phone doesn't see any of Fizz bands in 3G if you prefer.13

Thanks. That's the tricky part, I tried to switch sim cards and phones, in different locations. And it worked. It's just the combinaison of Huawei and Fizz doesn't work. It makes no sense.13

Your model/version must support AWS 1700/2100MHz thats the 3G network (Videotron). 700/850/1900/2100 is for the LTE since they share it with Rogers.. if you have 2 sim card slots in your phone try the other one. Otherwise your phone is not compatible and if you do 50% and more usage on the EXT network, they will ban you from using it.13

Other people here seem to have kindly helped with the frequency bands and handset compatibilities.
One question to the OP: where are you geographically? If you are in the subscription zone you should not be on Fizz EXT unless you forced your phone onto it or indeed, your handset is incompatible.10 -
Fizz phone need 3g connection, same as Freedom Mobile, otherwise it won't work.3
