Will upgrade from 4G to 5G be automatic?

I currently have a 4G plan with 25gb monthly data which is more than enough for my needs. Any idea if this will be changed to 5G at some point? The FIZZ website says all data plans are now 5G. Will I be switched? I don't want to pay additional money for more data than I need so I'd love to have my 25gb plan on 5G for my current price. If anyone has real info I'd love to hear it. Thanks

Hi, you'd have to switch to a 5G plan in order for it to work.

    The answer is no.

That said, the beauty of Fizz is that if you don’t ever modify your plan, the price will always remain the same. Also, LTE is totally fine.

    Hi @Stephen G. #32755
In Manitoba, all plans are still 4G.
Your plan and phone will continue to work on 4G which, depending on how Fizz sets up their network, may be used to “anchor” your phone to provide service IF you are in a 5G only area. I can’t see 5G only areas being around anytime soon. Carrier will be providing 4G and 5G at the same time until they finally decommission 4G at some point in the future (as their are doing now with 3G)
No one knows when that will be. I don’t know if Fizz’s plan promise includes auto and at no cost migration to a new technology such as 5G, but we all hope so.
    Cheers,
    Brad

Currently, to get 5G, you'd have to switch to a new plan. That said, things may change and perhaps sometime down the road everyone will be automatically transitioned from 4G to 5G.

They’ll have promotions in the future, hopefully around the $25 price point. As far as switching current plans to 5G, likely not anytime soon. But it seems 5G plan prices are coming down as 6 months ago, the minimum plan to get 5G was $35. Now it’s $21+.
