I set up WiFi calling today on my Samsung S26 after upgrading it to Android 17.

Any idea when this should be available for Pixels (9a that's been on Android 17 for a while now). This will make it so I'm again able to make/take calls at home or the office and not regret porting from Koodo so much.1

As customers, we can only speculate. But if the recent update doesn't have it yet, most likely it will be in December 2026.
You can have it now, if you join the Google's beta program.

Here is another small test for those of you who are interested.
VoCrossSIM, which is essentially WiFi Calling running over a data connection of another SIM card, is working as well with Fizz on iPhone. Successfully made a call from the Fizz SIM card while in this setup, i.e. while the Fizz SIM neither had a connection to a cell nor a WiFi network.

What is an eligible plan for Wi-Fi calling?

It looks like it should work for any plan if you have a compatible phone. It works within Canada and US only but to use in the US you need to have a Canada/US plan. The details on the supported phones and other details are available here:
