I can’t afford a bigger plan and live out of the data Fizz gives me but wondering if there are some ways I’m not aware and I can get data. Thanks in advance

    Hi, If you have any data plan, even the minimum one, you can share your referral code in this forum category to ask for data gifts, or comment on threads already offering some.
    Make sure to check the rewards page in your account for any perk and upgrade that offer free data as well.

    I have helped set up two lines with a 750 MB monthly bonus, or ≈ ¾ GB, while I bumped up a new line from ¼ GB monthly to ½ GB monthly within the first month. With Fizz rewards, this is fairly easy. One tip I was given early on is to comment my code daily in the appropriate threads: twice in English, and twice in French. (Eastern Time is used.) In a 30-day month, that's 360 points, a nice boost towards free data!

    If you give data to those on the forum, leave one comment reply after sending a gift. This gives 3 points for the gift, and 3 for the comment. Regardless of the size of your gift, you earn 3 points total, so sending the smallest (½ GB) several times means more points. Whether you send once or multiple times, limit yourself to one comment reply per requested.

    If you do not give data, then some Fizzers will still be happy to help you, whether it's because they have a points goal, or whether they just have lots of data that they're not using. Consider updating your forum username so that includes your code. Lapauchis_CODE for example. (To do this, you can chat with Fizz tech support.) If you start a Data Gifting thread with your code, and if your plan includes data, then you can easily receive some gigabytes of data for free.

    As others have noted, even if you have the minimum amount of data on your plan, you can receive data gifts from friends and strangers.

    To keep the cost of your plan down, you can check your usage of other services (talk time, text messages, voice mail) and consider going to pay per use with the Fizz wallet (if you're in QC/ON) and/or using an add-on. If you have modest usage of some or any of these, it may be significantly more cost effective than paying for unlimited use. Your phone might also be able to take messages for you, eliminating the need for voice mail.

    You can also try to use wifi whenever possible and minimize the use of higher bandwidth activities while using your cellular data. If you want to be watching videos or listening to music while using your data, choose a lower playback setting. You might even be able to download your content while on wifi and listen/watch the recording later, without using much or any data.
