Apple Watch with cellular & WiFi Hotspots

I would love if FIZZ offered plans for Apple watch with cellular; even if it's data only. And while they're at it, strike deals with automobile manufacturers to offer data only plans for WiFi Hotspots in automobiles.

Currently Fizz doesn't offer plans for Apple watch.

You can subscribe to a data only plan with Fizz, it'll get a phone number as every plan must but you can just not subscribe to calls and texts.

The problem is that HW manufacturers and service providers collude in such way that special plans or cooperations are even necessary in order for a consumer to be able to combine whatever HW with whatever service (provider) they would want. And nobody doing anything about it.

Why is it that not every VoLTE phone works with every VoLTE carrier?

Or that you need to have a a specific plan from a select number of providers to activate an Apple Watch through your iPhone? Or even to have an iPhone at all to activate an Apple Watch? There is no technical reason for it. An Apple Watch has an eSim build in, technically it could run with any plan from any provider that offers eSim without needing an iPhone to activate it.

Or that a carrier has to have a deal with a carrier for a hotspot in a vehicle? Technically, you should just be able to insert any sim into your car's hotspot feature.

This is more about you lobbying your MP for better regulation to prevent such industry practises. That they are generally willing to regulate such stuff they have proven when they banned carrier phone locking about a decade ago. A regulation that is less and less effective today as VoLTE incompatibilities have somewhat of the same effect that phone locks had back then.
