Fizz never adjusts its prices based on competitors’ flash sales. Their model is built around already‑reduced rates and flexibility, so they don’t follow the big carriers’ temporary promotions.
If the competitor’s offer really interests you, it’s worth comparing more than just the price: contract length, increases after 24 months, hidden fees, and so on. Very often, those “huge discounts” from the big players come with conditions that aren’t as attractive in the long run.

I'm more willing to support a competitor that the oligopoly.These sales are always very interesting, it shows for what mobile services could be offered if it wasn't for oligopoly price optimization...
To answer your question, Fizz has in past matched competitor pricing on several occasions, however, there is no automatism. All you can do is watch the changing price levels that Fizz is offering on a weekly / twice weekly basis.
Last time, when prices came down at two competitors over the winter holidays, Fizz did match, but it took a couple of weeks before they did.This flash sale is probably for way to short a time period for any competitors to react.

This can be important if you need to receive texts for two factor authentication.

Other users have reported that incoming texts are always free regardless of the country you are in even if you don’t have a plan with texts for that country.
Maybe someone else her can confirm? I don’t have personal experience with this this.

Provided your sim card registers on one of the networks of the visited country, which it does not do in "all" the countries. No network registration, no incoming texts. Luckily, Fizz does register in a wide variety of countries globally.

We were talking about a competitor that doesn't register with networks outside of North America. Thus, no registration, no incoming texts, no 2FA with that competitor when you are travelling.
