Hi, i’m thinking about getting an ESIM instead of my SIM… is it really good to do that? Will I see an improvement in speed?

    Here is a short answer:
An eSIM (embedded SIM) is a digital SIM built into your device, offering easy carrier switching and multiple plans without physical swapping, ideal for travel, while a physical SIM card is a removable plastic chip requiring manual changes, offering simple device-to-device transfer but less flexibility for modern users. eSIMs provide digital setup (QR code/app), save space, and offer better security (harder to steal), but physical SIMs allow immediate card transfer between any compatible phones, a key convenience feature for some, though eSIMs are becoming standard on newer devices.

    Hi @propea
    No improvement in speed.
No need to switch to an eSIM unless you have a reason to.
For instance, my new phone is eSIM only so I had to switch.
    Cheers,
    Brad

There will be no change in speed because of the switch.
There are others advance/disadvantages, but no change in speed.

Basically, if you switch phones often with the same sim card, stick with physical sim. If you change sims often on the same phone, go with esims.

Of course, it also depends on what your phone can support.

eSims can only be moved between devices with carrier involvement & authorization. With physical sims, you can just move the sim card between devices yourself without having to involve your carrier.

On the other hand, physical sim card slots on your phone are limited. esims you can have half a dozen if you like, all saved (but not active) on your phone at the same time. Not sure, where the limit even is for esims.

eSIM if you travel a lot, sim if you don’t travel, it just gives you options to use physical SIM cards when do travel.
