and I got a text saying that "Your current plan did not allow you to complete this call. Please buy an add-on." I thought that I could call all across Canada even though I only chose my own province for coverage.

If you have only provincial coverage calls to another province are considered out of service zone and will require an addon to complete.

    Hi @LaF
    From the FAQ
“ The coverage area you choose determines the expanse of the calls and texts included in your plan. If you choose the Canada coverage for instance, you can make or receive calls anywhere in the country. But with a Quebec coverage, a call made or receive from Vancouver for example would not be included in your plan, and you’d have to buy a Travel Add-on.”

    No, you need Canada coverage.

Ok, thanks for your help. Do any of you need a bit of data? I've got some extra - thanks for helping me understand how this works.

Actually, with Quebec coverage, when you are in Quebec, you can receive calls from Vancouver, you just can't make them. It's a bit further down in the FAQ.

"When you are in your coverage area, any call you receive, even those coming from abroad, are considered and billed as a local call."

However, when you are in Vancouver, with your Quebec coverage plan, you won't be able to receive calls from Vancouver, or anywhere really, because you're outside of your coverage zone.

The thing you have to remember is that when you are on a province-only plan, the rest of Canada is considered "abroad". So, if you want to make calls from your province to the rest of Canada, you need the International Call addon for Canada (yes, there is one). And when you travel in Canada outside your province, you need a travel-addon for Canada.
