hi, I am a foreign student studying in Montreal. I am very curious about the cultures/hobbies of Canadians.
Please share with me what do your family/friends recently did, or will do, or usually do in this time of the year?
What food or event I should enjoy?

At this time of the year, two things come to mind:
    1. A walk in the forest to enjoy the colorful leaves.
    2. Apple picking at the orchard.

You might need to step out of Montreal, though.

ah I have a question. Did you play trick or treat when you were a kid? Is that we only knock the houses with the Halloween decoration?

We used to decorate more when we had young children at home, but this time has long passed.

This month, we'll have Halloween, and it also marks the start of the upcoming holidays like Christmas and New Year's Day.

For the Haloween day, is that a special time to celebrate something? I am a Christian, but I come from Vietnam, so in my perspective, it is the eve of the All Souls Day, isn't it? or is this also for celebrating the end of the harvesting season (as I understand) - is it correct?

You can visit the botanical garden at night they have and night light, and enjoy the fall during the day.

Classic apple picking activity beginning of Oct, Trees and leafs colours also (so good timing for hiking), and then end of the month everything gets darker and moodier = Halloween

Yes, you're right on both counts. Halloween (October 31) is traditionally the eve of All Saints' Day (November 1), rooted in Christian observance. It also has older Celtic origins—Samhain—marking the end of the harvest and the start of winter. So it blends spiritual and seasonal meanings.

Oh, very nice to know that - I didn't know the Celtic and Samhain origin. I can google about it, but do you want to shortly inform me about it 😝
