What do I need to do to use my phone in USA if I have a Canada plan only?

Hi!

Very soon it will be my first time travelling from Quebec (with a Canada wide Fizz plan) to the USA, and I don’t know what I need to activate/add-on to use my phone in the states.

I’ve read I need to active roaming and have money in my Fizz wallet to get some travel add-ons but what does this mean more precisely?

I will need to be able to make/receive calls&texts as well as have access to my data for GPS purposes etc…

So what’s my best option here and what do I have to do to enable it?

_Huge thanks in advance!! _🙏🏼🙏🏼

There is no best option, it all depends on how long you stay and how much you are going to use your phone. You can

    1. Change your plan to Canada+US. But only at the price points currently being offered. Higher monthly price until you switch back to a current Canada-wide plan. Will only become effective at the start of your next billing cycle which may be too late if your trip starts "very soon". This option is most useful if you travel to the US frequently, stay in the US for several months or want to use your phone just like you would in Canada.
    2. Use wallet for Pay-as-you-go. 10c per minute for incoming and outgoing calls, 2c per outgoing text, 2c per MB of data. Available instantly after topping up your wallet. Valid indefinitely. This option is most useful if you keep usage of your phone to a minimum. You can also ask for a refund for any wallet funds that you don't end up using. Check price information you receive from Fizz upon your arrival in the US. As prices may have changed.
    3. Buy a travel add-on. Here you buy packs of minutes, texts and/or data. Available instantly. Prices listed under Manage my plan, Travel addon. Valid until the end of your next billing cycle, so any time between one and two months. No refunds for remaining minutes, texts or data. Most useful for moderate usage within the stated validity period.

    You cannot:

    • Use wallet money to buy addons. Addons are always funded from your primary payment method.

You will have to activate data roaming on your phone regardless of the option you choose to use.

    Hi how many time ?

If you change for Canada+USA plan, you have unlimited for call and texto if you have choice illimited Call and texto.

If you don't change plan add addon for USA ou money on your wallet...

Change plan change price if you have best price of now..

    Good morning @Roxanewhatever
Adding the USA to a plan costs one dollar a month. Remember that you cannot go back to your old plan, once changed you can only change to what is available. As noted by @MobileFizzer_VBMV6 a plan change takes effect at the start of your next billing cycle. Also note that any plan changes must be made at least 72 hours before the end on your current billing cycle.
One dollar a month is a great deal. All you do is turn on your roaming and your plan follows you, including your data!
If you do the math of add ons and pay as you go wallet, a dollar a month is an easy choice - at least it was for me :-)
If this is not an option, you should download your maps in advance so you don’t use up so much data, and then set the maps to only use offline data.
    Cheers,
    Brad

That depends on the province you have your plan in. For Québec, it is $4 extra.
