5G for Fizz & 3G shutdown

Hey guys, are you aware when will be get 5G?
Any communication if you might have received because a lot of other competitors are shutting down the 3G network, so I guess Fizz will follow their lead to bring up 5G and be operating in 5G/4G

Hi @Shubh_Scooby
The only news that we have that the 3G will fade out, when and if the 5G will be added we don't know.
Fizz will communicate it in the forum when they are ready1

Just an FYI, 5G is not necessarily better than LTE. A lot depends on the frequency used. (Lower slower frequency in rural areas that travels further or high faster frequencies in urban areas, but more users). Customers experience on speed is really about a provider’s ability to manage customer load, frequency bandwidth, and coverage. For example. You can have the best 5G tech with the best frequency and the the user experience will decline when there is a surge of use, like during an emergency or a large sporting event.
Unless you are downloading large amounts of data to your mobile, you won’t notice any difference, most of the time. Video streaming apps only require @25 Mbps where as max for LTE is 300.
Where 5G shines is in latency, which is important in the first load of an app, like social media. The app refreshes faster, but after that it doesn’t matter.1 -
There are no news about 5G at Fizz yet.

Fizz don't actually have to "bring it up". Fizz is using Vidéotron and Freedom Mobile towers. Both of which already support 5G. All they have to do is decide to "let us use it"

Actually, video streaming is using far less than that. Or is anybody streaming 4K video onto their tiny phone screen?!
Think about it, if you were streaming at 25 Mbps, you'd be using more than 11 GB for an hour of video streaming.
Also, while LTE Advanced in theory supports 300 Mbps, Fizz actually limits to 150 Mbps. Or, at least, they say they do:
Ultrafast
LTE technology makes it possible to offer an ultrafast cellular data network. Browse, watch and download at speeds of up to 150 Mbps, depending on where you are and what device you’re on.2 -

Hockey fans trying to follow that tiny puck?🤣

Fizz has not said anything about supporting 5G in the future but they will probably let us know. All we know right now is the 3G network is being shut down. We might get 5G in the future who knows.

Fingers crossed. Hope they roll out soon! They need to be competing with other prepaids in the market!
