Still says "Fizz EXT" on my son's iphone 12 mini after a month

Hi all, I had switched my son from Rogers to Fizz a month ago, not long after I switched to Fizz myself. Odd thing is that on his iphone it still says Fizz EXT, while my Samsung showed the EXT for just a day or two and then it properly showed "Fizz".
Chatted with Fizz support and they had me reset his iphone's network settings, but that unfortunately did nothing.
Any of you experience this?
thx.

If you get four options Fizz EXT, then the phone hasn't learned yet what the proper Fizz network is. As I said above, try the four options one-by-one, until *3001#12345#* says you are on 302 500 or 302 490. Then leave it there for a few days, hopefully your network string will update to "Fizz".

Hi @nomad416_R1XBT
If the iPhone 12 mini for the Canadian market?
Is the iPhone updated? Do you have the last carrier settings? (Settings > General > About)Is the network operator configure automatically (Settings > Cellular > Network Selection)?

On the iPhone, go to Settings -> Cellular -> Fizz SIM -> Network Selection and make sure it is set to "Automatic".
If that doesn't help, "dial" the following "number" on your son's iPhone. Don't worry, it won't call anywhere, it is used to access a secret menu.
*3001#12345#*
If the phone has two active SIMs, select the Fizz SIM at the top.
Check under Network PLMN if it says
302 500 (in Québec province & Ottawa region)
302 490 (elsewhere in Canada)If you are seeing either one of these PLMN codes, the phone is registered to the Fizz network and it is just a matter of the display string not updating. If it shows anything else, the phone is in fact registered to an EXT network.
If it is just a display issue, and your son is using a physical SIM, you can try moving the SIM to our phone for a day or two until the network string updates. Maybe the update doesn't go through on your son's iPhone 12 for some reason, althrough I couldn't imagine why. Also make sure, iPhone firmware is up-to-date and that you accept any prompt to update your Carrier Settings.
If you are in fact registered to an EXT network, go to Settings -> General -> About -> Model Number. Click on Model Number until it shows Axxxx with x being numeric digits. Post the model number here, so we can check if you may have an international version of the iPhone and how that may affect your network signal reception.

Yep, my son's iphone was purchased unlocked from Rogers. It's updated running iOS 18.6. The last carrier settings are "Fizz 64.0". When I put Network Selection on Automatic, it chooses an Edge connection. When I take it off Automatic, it gives me four "Fizz EXT" options; I normally set it to the second one which gives LTE speeds.

Ok, so my son's iphone has only one active SIM. The PLMN says "302 610". The iphone firmware is up to date, i.e., iOS 18.6. I don't recall seeing any recept prompt to update the carrier settings. The Model Number is A2398.

@nomad416_R1XBT based on your messages I realized
1,iOS 18.6 is a beta version which is not a stable version released to public yet.
2, Fizz network showing Edge connection is weird because fizz doesn’t have 2g. The edge connection is from rogers alone.Looks like there maybe a glitch with iOS 18.6 beta.
Please select the network as automatic and see if the ext goes off in a day or two.
If it is a physical sim, try to put the sim in other phone and see.
In Settings-> general-> about and see if there are any sim restrictions in the phone.0 -
302 610 is Rogers, partner of Fizz (EXT).
A2398 it's canadian model.
iOS 18.6 is a beta version which is not a stable version released to public yet. There is a limit to using Fizz EXT, so communicate with support to verify.

Well, actually 302 610 is Bell, not Rogers. But, @G225 code IRSGE is right as this confirms the phone is using Fizz EXT. A2398 is in fact the Canadian model and has all the LTE bands required for the native Fizz network, so no issues there. So, why is it not registering on the Fizz network then? Can we assume, you and your son are at the same location?
Try one more thing:
Settings -> Cellular -> Fizz SIM -> Network Selection
disable the "Automatic" setting, the iPhone will now do a network search. This may take a minute or two. Check if it finds a "Fizz" network besides the multiple "Fizz EXT" entries. When it finds the "Fizz" entry, select it specifically to manually have the phone register on the Fizz network. If it doesn't find any "Fizz" entry, try all the Fizz EXT entries one-by-one, wait for 30 seconds or so after each manual network register, then check with *3001#12345#* if you get 302 500 or 302 490. If you do get it, leave it in manual network selection mode for a few days until the network string says "Fizz". In either case, once the network string does say "Fizz", you'd want to turn the Automatic Network Selection back on.If it still doesn't help, unenroll the phone from the Apple Beta Testing program, and restore it to the latest public release version. Unfortunately, that apparently requires a factory default reset. There is more information here:

Good morning @nomad416_R1XBT
Is it unfortunate that it chooses Edge in automatic mode.
If it manages to choose EXT in automatic mode, don’t be concerned, so long as you are in a subscription zone.0 -

Thanks.
(Also, to answer one of your earlier questions: Yes, our son is a young teenager and still lives with us.)

It is a physical sim, and I put it into my older Samsung Note phone and it too shows "Fizz EXT".
The iphone's "Carrier Lock" shows no SIM restrictions.

Update: My son just told me the EXT is gone and now it just says "Fizz" on his iphone. He's able to put Network Selection back to Automatic and it still says "Fizz", so that's good. Thanks to MobileFizzer for that suggestion of manually selecting the EXT that was linked to Freedom. And thanks to all for the other suggestions.
